new and useful' Improvements in Hose-Protectors, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to hose or stocking protectors, and one of the principal objects of the invention is to provide a guard or shield designed to encircle the ankle and cover the stocking above the top of an OX- ford tie or other low cut shoe to prevent the blacking or polishing material from soiling the stockings during the process of polishing the shoe..

Another object of the'uivention is to provide a guard or shield' of simple construction which can be quickly placed in position to cover the stocking abovc the top of the shoe, said guard being held in place by spring clips designed to hold the shield or guard in proper position.

These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which, 'l

Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the guard in position for use. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the protector spread out, portions being broken away to show the manner of securing the spring clips in place. Fig. 3 is a vertical section 'taken on line 3-3 of'Fig. 2.

Referring to the drawing the numeral l designates a low cut shoe and 2 is the stocking protector adapted to cover the stocking from the top of the shoe a required distance above the saine to prevent the blacking or polishing compound from coming in contact with the stocking during the polishing operation.
