CHARLES B. MOCOY, OF FOND DU LAC, WISCONSIN.
BRUSHING OR POLISHING MACHINE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 25, 1911.
Application filed September 30, 1910. Serial No. 584,719.
.To all whom tt may concern:
Be it known that I, OHARLES B. MoCoY, a Citizen of the United States, residing at Fond du Lac, in the county of Fond du Lac and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brushing and Polishing Machines, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to brushing or polishing machines, and more particularly for the polishing of stoves and the like.
The object is to provide means for oscillating a brush which is supported upon a portable frame or handle.
The invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described andI pointed out in the claim.
In the accoinpanying drawings:-Figure 1 is a view in elevation of the invention, and Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view.
The frame consists of a bar A, to which is connected a hollow standard 1, in which is journaled a shaft 2. The shaft 2 is provided with an eccentrie 8 at one end; the other end of the shaft is connected to any suitable inechanism (not shown) for rotating it. Arms 4, 45, extend from the bar A, and connecting the arnis together are plates 5, 5. A lever 6 is received and guided between the plates 5, and is pivotally connected to the bar A. The lever is provided with a hollow head 7 in which is received the shank of the brush 8, whereby the brush can be connected to the lever. The eccentric 3 is in the form of a wheel, and mounted upon the wheel is a ring 9, to which is connected a link 10,
which link is pivotally connected to the lever 6.
In the Operation of the polisher, the operator will grasp the bar A and standard 1, after the power has been turned on for rotating the shaft 2, which causes the eccentric to rotate, thereby transmitting an oscillatinp; movement to the lever 6. The operator can, in this way, move the brush about the surface of the stove or object being;` polished, and as the brush extends outwardly from the bar A, and moves lengthwise of the bar, the brush can be placed at different angles for polishing, and inserted in places about the stove which could not be reached if the brush were mounted directly upon the bar.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desireto secure by Letters Patent, is
In a polisher, the combination with a portable frame comprising a bar, forniinzg` a handle for moving and supporting the frame, a shaft journaled thereon, an eccentric on the shaft, of a lever pivotally connected to the bar, plates connected to the bar between which the lever is received for guiding the lever in its movements, means connecting the lever with the eccentric whereby the lever is operated upon the movement of the shaft, and a brush connected to the lever.
In testimony whereof I afiix my Signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
OHARLES B. MoCOY.
