ATTACHMENT FOR BARBEREV CHAIRS.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EMILE F. LEVESQUE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Salem, in the county of Essex and State of lVIassachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Barbers Chairs, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to attachments for barber chairs, and is designed to provide a basket and holder for shaving paper which may be collapsed and retained within a receptable when not in use.

WVith the above and other objects in View, this invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts all as hereinafter more fully described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is a side elevation partly in section illustrating the device constructed in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 2is a top plan view thereof; Fig. 3 is an enlarged section illustrating the basket contained in the receptacle designed for the same.

Reference being had more particularly to the drawings 10 indicates a tubular supporting member having the lower terminal bent angularly to form a swivel 11 which is pi votally mounted in the plate or bracket 12. The upper terminal of the tubular member 10 has the receptacle 14 secured thereon through the instrumentality of the internally threaded flange 13. An inwardly extending projection 15 is formed about the upper terminal of the tubular member 10 and coacts with a head 16 carried adjacent to the lower end of the rod 17 which reciprocates in the tubular member 10 for retaining the same therein. The upper terminal of the rod 17 has a secondary rod 18 pivoted thereto which is adapted to swing horizontally and cooperate with all sides of said receptacle. This rod is retained in a normally horizontal position, retained thus by hearing against the upper edges of the receptacle 1 L.

On the outer tenninal of the arm 18 is centrally pivoted for horizontal movement, a section of wire basket 19 in which is mounted a roll 20 adapted to retain paper.

A similar section of wire basket 19' is pivoted to the section 19 and is adapted to swing inwardly and bear on said section 19 when the device is not in use. The receptacle 14 is of such a size that the width thereof is equal to the width of one of the sections 19'. It will be understood that by folding the section 19 over on the section 19 and swinging the latter so that the longitudinal dimension thereof rests longitudinally with respect to the arm 18 and by raising said arm, the basket may be dropped into the receptacle 14, the arm 18 extending into the tubular member 10.

A spring catch 21 is secured centrally to each face of the receptacle 14 and cooperates with the gravity pawl 22 pivotally mounted in the opening 23 formed in the arm 18 adjacent to said receptacle. Then the arm 18 is raised the pawl 22 drops into the opening of the arm and rests flush with the surface of the latter, thus permitting the free movement of the arm 18 in the tubular number 10.

A cover 24 is pivoted to one side of the receptacle 14- and is provided with a recess 25 therein to permit the passage of the same over the spring catch 21 located adjacent to the hinge of said cover. The outer edge of this cover is provided with a centrally disposed spring catch 26 which cooperates with the catch 21 centrally secured to the side of the receptacle l-t opposite to the side to which the cover 24 is pivoted, as is illustrated in Fig.

Having thus fully described my invention, what is claimed as new is:-
