This invention contemplates providing a bait of the general class described having a link connected with suitable hooks, said link provided with an eye to which the spocn is attached, said eye provided with a stop or abutment for preventing; forward movement of the spoon, whereby entanglement of the spoon with the line or swivel is prevented, said link preferably provided with a weight for sinking the bait in the water. With the foregoing and other objects iii View, the invention consists. in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts constituting the invention to be here inafter specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings which form a part hereof wherein is shownthe preferred embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which con 1e Within the scope of the claim hereunto a gpended.

In the drawings, in which similar refer-- ence numerals indicate like parts in the dif ferent figures: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device showing the same in operative position; and, Fig. 2 is an onla'rge'd view of the front end of a link showing the eye and a portion of the spoon in two positions, together with the rear end of aswivel by which the device is connected, to

Referring to the drawings in detail, the reference numeral 1 denotes a link provided with an eye 2 at the rear end and a larger eye 3 at the forward end thereof between which is customarily mounted a member 4 toincrease the weight thereof. Connected with the rear eye 2 is a split ring 5 to which are attached hooks 6. The forward eye 3 of the linkis provided with an abutment or stop 7 which consists of a collar or drop of solder, or it may be formed integral with the eye itself so long as the same constitutes an abut-l'nent or stop thereon. Connected with the eye 3 is a swivel 8 attached to a line 9.

The spoon which constitutes an essential feature of this invention is designated in the drawings by the reference numeral 10 and is provided near its forward end with an aperture 11 to receive the eye 3. The spoon will be positioned on the eye 3 rearwardly of the stop or abutment 7 and is permitted free movement thereon during its passage through the water and is capable of sliding forward on the eye as far as the sto 7 but is prevented from moving farther orward and becoming fouled with the line by reason of this 'stop. By means of this peculiarlyconstructed eye it is impossible for the spoon to fall forward or toward the swivel sufi-.

What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:-
