This present invention relates to syllablewriting machines and hns for its object to provide an improved arrangement of typebars und key-levers, wherein the keys are arranged in rows placed one behind the other, while the type-bars are arranged vcrtically on a, circular line around thefprint'- ing point oii' the platen.y In order to enable syllables to be written on this nischine, the type-bars placed at opposite sides of the machine und outside-tlie side of the bars Withsingle types. are provided with syllables and carry extensions which act on universal rails arranged concentrically to the printing point and acting on the escapenient or the carriage. Arranged in front of the usual keys for the single type-bars are rows of keys for the syllable bars, these keys being connected with the corresponding syllable-bars through the agency of horizontsl traction-rods. This arrangement and connection enable syllables to he written, without the dimensions and shape of the machine being different from the usual typey writing machines with single types.

14. In a type-Writing machine, the combination of a type-bar having 'a plurality of projections intermediate its ends, with e lurelity of separate Universal bars adapte to be engaged by certain of seid projections to operate the feed mechanism.
