To all whom it may concern:
Be ,it known that l, CHARLES S. HARRIS, o citizen or' the United States, residing nt Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee und State of 1Wisconsin, have invented new nud useful improvements in Regulators for Giur Stoves, of which the. following is o specification.
rihis invention relates to controllersfor the burners of ges stoves,a the object being to provide simple end effective means for letting on the full iiovv of gas when o cool;- ing vessel or other object to be heated placed in position und reducing or cutting oii the iiow of gus when thel vessel or object Waste of gas when the burner is temporarily out of use and a full flow of gas is not required.
A. further object of the invention is to provide asimple and effective menus for innintaining u reduced ilmne so ns to avoid the. necessity of frequently rclighting the burner when the same is thrown into und out of operation at compurutivelj,T short intervals.

The larger end of the valve 23 carries a depending lever arm 2.() provided with a lon gitudinal series of openings 30. The connecting rod or link is thus adjustably con-' nected to the lever and lever arm so that a degree of motion imparted to the valve 2l under prescribed degree of movement of the depressible member 1l may be regulated to either entirely cut o'll the supply of gas to the burner when the vessel is removed and the depressible element is in normal position, or to reduce the flou' of gas to any desired extent to leave just enough gas burning at the burner outlet to avoid the necessity of lighting the burner each time a pot or vessel is placed in position. From the foregoing description. taken in connection with the drawings, 'the construction and mode of operation of my improved gas stove regulator will be readily understood, and'it will be apparent that after the pilot burner 28 is lighted the burnerwill be primed for operation so that when the pot or vessel is placed in position the weight of the same will depress the head l1 and effect the opening of the valve 23 for the supply or gas, which will be lighted by the llame from the burner 28. When the vessel'is removed the valve will be adjusted to entirely @swine of the burning of gas when the burner isnot in use and saving of time in relighting; a very important feature especially in restaurants, lunch houses, boarding houses, etc., Where cooking utensils are constantly being applied to and removed Jfrom the burner.
