Be it known that I, JOHN D. THOMPSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bozeman, in the county of Gallatin and. State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle Openers and Closers, of which the following is a specidcation.

This invention relates to a Acombined bottle opener and closer, which is particularly `adapted for bottles closedby crimped caps.

One object of thisinvention is to so form a bottle cap remover, thatthe same may be used to closevthe mouthof the bottle after the cap has been removed.

With these and. other objects 1n view, the

inventionconsists in the construction, com-` bination and arrangement of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed -out in the claims, but it will be understood that changes in the specific structure ma be maderwitho'ut departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring particularly to the drawings, it will be seen that the device comprises a body portion 10 having formed at one end a loop 11 lying in the saine plane therewith, the

In the modification shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the device is formed similar to the first form with the exception that the tongue 16 and the lip 14 are formed by doubling the bridging strip 19, extending from the body portion 10 to the outer portion of vthe loop 11, said strip of course it being understood is cut from the loop on the line 20. The recess 111 is also formed in this modification to bring the ltongue 1G below-the plane of the sheet 10". Theflanges 15 have their ends rounded as in 21 to aid in applying the device to the bottle.

A combined bottle opener and closer comprising ab ody portionhaving converging longitudinalanged sides, adapted to eni gage the beaded mouth of a bottle, a packving sheet disposed on the face of the body of the body portion?y a second tongue struck up' from the cap engaging lip said tongue being disposed within a de ression so that said lip will lie in a plane elow said loop, and the tongue below the surface of said packing.
