I THE uqRRls PETERS C0,, WASHINGTON, u. c.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
HEINRICH WIENAND, 0F FBANKFORT-ON-THE-MAIN, GERMANY.
ARTIFICIAL TOOTH.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEINRICH WLE AND, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at 10 Tlannenstrasse, Frankfort on the Main, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements Relating to Artificial Teeth, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to artificial teeth and has for its object to provide very simple, inexpensive and eifective means for securing teeth in position upon the plate carrying them so that the connection may ofier the most effective resistance to the strain imposed upon it in use and so that the use of platinum pins orother pins may be avoided or minimized.
According to the invention I provide the tooth with a central hole which is bridged over by a lateral ridge or ledge formed in tegral with the tooth so that a lateral aperture is presented on the rear face of the tooth communicating with the central hole referred to and thus the volatile or other composition may pass therethrough and below the lateral hole I provide a platinum or other pin.
In the accompanying drawing is shown a perspective view of a tooth.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed. September 2, 1909.
Patented Mar. 21, 1911.
Serial No. 515,938.
In carrying the invention into effect I provide the tooth with a central hole 0 which is traversed by a lateral ridge a formed integral with the tooth. In this manner a lateral hole 6 communicating with the central aperture 0 is formed under the ridge a. Below this lateral hole 6 I provide a platinum or other pin Z2 so as to strengthen the connection against the lateral displacement of the tooth in any direction.
l/Vhat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In an artificial tooth having a central hole means for taking up the strain upon the tooth consisting of a lateral ledge or ridge provided integral with the tooth and traversing said hole and a pin disposed beneath the ledge or ridge substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HEINRICH VVIENAND.
