PIPE-FASTENER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 21', 1911.
Application filed April 20, 1910. I Serial No. 556,545.
To all whom at may concern:
Be it knownthat I, LADISLAUS ZAGHARA, a
single sheet of metal bent upon itself to form a spring leaf 12 which projects becitizen of the United States, residing at yond thelip 10. The center of the mem- Sandpoint, in the county of Bonner and State of Idaho, have invented new and useful Improvements in Pipe-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to pipe fasteners and the object of the invention is the pro vision of means for connecting the separate sections of the pipe and further means for preventing the connection from becoming accidentally disengaged.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application, and in which .Figure 1 is a side elevation.- Fig. 2 is a fragmentary sectional view of one of the sections. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary perspective view, and Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view of the locking device removed from the pipe.
Referring more especially to the drawing,
1 represents the upper pipe section, and 2 the lower pipe section which are adapted to be connected together. The lower section 2 is provided with a plurality of rivets 3 arranged around above the usual limiting rib 4 formed on the sections and the rivets are each projected out beyond the surface of the pipe and headed asat 5 so as to enter the locking notch 6 on the section 1. There are three of these notches 6 and leading into each one is a notch 7 formed in an upset portion 8 of the metal of the section which forms a recess 9 for the reception of the head of the rivet and also a housing or supporting member with which is engaged the lip 10 of the locking spring 11. is constructed as is shown in This spring, Fig. 4? of a ber 11 is bowed asat 13 and the outer end is notched as at 14 to receive the end of the rivet. When this device is placed on the section 1 with its lip 10 in engagement with the edge of the upset portion 8 and the notch 14 in engagement with therivet, the sections cannot be disengaged without first removing the members 1 Having thus described the invention, what is claimed, is e 1. In combination, a pair of pipe sections, headed members on one of said sections, the other of said sections having locking slots formed thereon adapted to receive the headed members, supporting means struck up from the slotted section, and independent fastening devices removably mounted between the supporting means: and the headed members, to prevent disengagement of the latter from the locking slots. 2. In combination, a pair of pipe'sections, headed rivets secured to one of said sections, the other of said sections being provided with a plurality of locking slots adapted to receive said rivets, housings struck up from. the slotted sections and forming recesses which communicate with the locking slots, and spring members arranged over said locking slots and held against, said housings and the ;.rivets by their inherent resiliency to hold the rivets from displacement in the locking slots. p 4
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
