Appunti" una que i. me. anni n. man.
To all whom it may concern:
lie it known that I, Moirmx Seriloua Parecen, a citizen of the United States, and
a resident of Kellogg, in the county of Shodulio, linve invented ii new and lin )roved Stunip-Erndicator, of
which the fo lowing,r is u full, clear, and' exact description.
This invention relates to a new and iniiroved stuinp remover, of a type adopted tu iorin a furnace around the stump and dcutroy the saine bv lire.
An object of this invention is to provide a device which will be sim )le in construcduruble, readily het up, und reliable in its operation.
A further object of this invention ia to o construct the device that an o ning will be presented to the wind fro-.ii wtever direction it come, adjacent the bot oni thereof, so au to form' an upward draft therein;
and at the saine time direct the outlet away from the wind, so us to cause a suction through the device.
These and further objects, together with theI construction and combination of pa will be inoili fullv described hereinafter a particularly set forth ii'i the claims.
Reference is to be had to thelaecompony'- ing drawings forming a part of thia apecitieation, in whichaimilar characters of reference indicate correaponding parte in all the views, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view; Fig. 2 is a vertical section; Fig. 3 is u horizontal section on tbe line 3-3 of Fig. 2 and Fi 4 is a horizontal section on the ine of FieQ. l
feu-ing more particulari inthe-ne nrate parte of the device. it wi l be eeen t nit it con'siifste| of a furnace having a top 1an intermediate cylindrical body portion 2, and a bottom bell-shiqicd portion 3, formed of any suitable material, auch iis sheet iron. The internauliaie portion 2 und the bottom 3 are connected together and fornied of two' sections 4 und 5, Joined along, vertical line und having strips t', :'-wcuieil to-,fone of the scc- '50 thtother hei-tion. to form comparatively tiene, iis by nieuw-i of i'ivctH, arid Overlapping tight jointe. 'llie two sections 4 and 5 may be .ct-mired together in any ivell known miinnei',4 anhy nieunn of hooks 7 pivotally se- ,",en'rcd to one of the, QectiQnsinn'd engaging innig 8 on ythe 'other section.I

tion, inexpensive to manu acture, strong,-
l tion of the wind.
The top 1 is preferably conical in shape, upwardly to a cylindrical stub pipe 9. upported on the top in any well nown manner, there is provided a pin 10, on which in rotatably supported an elbow 11, and rotatably supported on the pin 10 in any well known manneithere is rovided a vene 12, which is adapted to poin up into thewin'd und theneby rotnte the elbow pipe 1'1, 'so u to keep ito outlet, indicated at 13, ulwnys facili awa from the wind so that a suction dra t wi be created incide of the furnace. Each of the bell-shaped portions of the sections 4 and 5 are provided with two doors 14, which normally close openings 15 in the bottom 8. The manner of? opening these doors may i of anv suitable character uu for example by sliding in iidee, but they have been s own ao pivote to the bottom so aa toawing outwardly: There are four of these. openings and. doors therefor in the bottgm 3, extendin in directions at siibstantially right-an es to ouch other, so that one door may be o ned to either the north, east, south or w according to the direc l hor the pur of automatically o ning these doors, t ey are euch connected, y connecting members 16, to le vers 17 ivotcd to the intermediate body pln'tion in any well known manner, and I ing bent oven at theirop ite end to conforinaubotantially to the n o ie of the top 1. 'Secured to the elbow pipe 1, there is provided a trip 18, which is adapted to ucliiate the. levers 17, fio ae to open the doors 14. The 'trip is so disposed on the elbow pipe 11 that it will openr the door oplpoeite to the vane ,12; that is to say, on t e side correaponding'to that in which the wind is coniin trom.- The trip 18 may -be of any snitnb e form, and ia shown as consisting of a rod'19 extending down in arallel relation sith the alopgng top 1 en provided with u bar 20 at i lower end, the extremities of Secured to the elbow pipo.
