A further object of the invention is the provision of an extremely simple and inexpensive means which will shift or slide one section of a pair of nesting couch-bed sec tions so as to form either a single or a douhis bed and which will also sinmltaneously swing open or close-ti folding mattress, and in addition will carry into or out of posi tion for use a suitable storage receptacle. vthe parts being so organized, however, in several of the embodiments thereof that the storage receptacle is readily :urcessible in any position of theshi'ftable section of the couch bed.

-A further object is the provision of an improved conch bed made up of two sliding sections, one of which is carried or sup ported by a storage receptacle in such manner however, that its metallic fabric will move orslide-b'ctw'cen a side bar and the inetallig fabric of the other section while receptacle will move or slide below the side bar of such last section.

In those forum of conch beds' in which one section shifts, moves or slides with re lation to the other section. thereby to tori-n either a double or a single bed, it is desirable to provide some means for the storage of the bed clothing during the day, or when the structure is transformed into a couch, and also to have such bed clothing readily accessible so that. when the bed is formed into a double bed the bed clothing inay be thrown upon the mattressthus obviating the necessity of carrying the bed clothing to and storing the same in a cupboard ch11: ing the day and again carrying it, back to the bed at night. While in the form of conch lied shown in Figs. 1 to 5 inclusive, access to the stora ye receptacle is entirely practicable whether t 'e bed be open or closed, yet it is desirable that such access be permitted when the folding mattress is partly open, so that, for

instance, when the bed is to be transformed into a double bed the pillows, covers and other appurtenances of the bed can be taken from the storage receptacle and thrown on to the ticking or inside of the book mattress,

whereas if this could only be done when the folded mattress is also partly opened, as
