To a/ZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, E. E. GORE, of Phoenix, in the county of .I ackson and State of Oregon, have invented new and useful Improvement in Gang-Flows; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, Aforming part of this specification.
This invention relates to yimprox-'ementsin gang-plows; and it consists in the construction Aand arrangement of parts, as hereinafterspecified.
Figure l represents a side elevation of my improved gang-plow with some parts broken out. Fig. 2 represents a plan view, and Fig. 3 represents a front elevation.

A represents a rectangular frame, supported on the front axle, B, by means of the` jointed bars G and levers D, pivoted to the said bars and to the fixed studs E and provided with springlatches F, which, engaging in the notches of the curved bars G, which support the seat, hold the said frame A higher or lower on the axles, according to the position of the notches in which the said spring-latches are engaged. The pivot-connections of the levers D with the bars C and studs E are adjustable. The frame A is provided with the diagonal brace-rods II I, connected to it near the front end and passing through the axle horizontally, to prevent longitudinal vibration of the frame on the axle. The bar II is jointed at K, to permit the axle to be turned relatively to the frame,
and the bar I is provided with an extensible joint, M, whereby it may be lengthened or shortened for the purpose of varying the draft of the plows for cutting wider or narrower furrows. The spindle is swiveled to the lever to permit the caster-wheel to turn freely, and the long arm of the lever is provided, near the front end, with a springlatch, R, for engaging with notches in the rear bar or support of the seat, to hold the frame higher or lower, which is effected by the movement of the lever up or down, the end I being controlled by its support on the top of the spindle N. vThis frame Ais made wider or narrower, according to the number of plows to be used in the g( ng, and another frame, A', is provided within'the frame A for the support of the plows B', and arranged for supporting the plows in the working position, or for raising and supporting them above the ground. Itis jointed near the front end, at C', to the arms D of a transverse crank-shaft, E', and at the rear to the cranks F', journaled in the frame at G, and slotted at the other ends, where the pivot-pins H are received.
These slots prevent any binding between the front and rear crank-arms, which might occur without them if there should happen to be any difference in the length of the cranks, or if the connections of the front and rear cranks should not happen to be exactly the required distances apart. The crank I of the shaft E is connected by the link K to the bent arm L of a lever, M, pivoted at N to a stand rising from the frame. This lever is so arranged that when the plow-supporting frame is down it will stand in a vertical position, and when it is turned down backward it draws the crank I forward and raises the frame A and plows out of the ground. draft of the plows comes jointly on the arms D and F (by which the inner frame, A, is connected with the outer or larger frame, A) and the lugs R. between the arms and frame A is at the lower or under side of the latter, and at or near the upper side of A, and the stops R prevent the inner frame falling below the level of the outer at any time, and hence, also, both sets of arms from falling to a horizontal line. Thus, when draft is applied, this inclined position of the arms D prevents the plows rising from any cause. The arrangement of the frame A in the frame A is such that when the plows are down in the working position the force of the draft is taken on the frame A by the bearing of the rear end ofthe frame A against the cross-beam of the frame A.

Having thus described my invention, I claim' as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The combination of the stops R ll. with the frames A and A and arms D' and F', whereby thelatter are retained in an inclined position, and the plows thereby prevented from rising or falling, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
2. The links D F', connecting` the frames A. A', the hind links being` slotted for the purpose of allowing the plows to be raised in an inclined direction, as specified.
3. The hoisting-lever M', link K', and crank I', in combination with the links D F' and frames A A of a gang-plow, as specified.
4. rlhe spring-catch O', pivoted to the frame A, for the purpose of locking the frame A in its elevated position, as speciiied.
The frame A, supported on the front axle by the rodsv C, and on the swiveled casterwheel O, substantially as described, so that it can be raised and lowered at will, to adjust the posit-ion of either plow, or of both, sub
stantially as specified.
6. The levers D, connected separately with the axle and with the frame A, for raisin g or lowering the latter, as specilied.
7. rlhe lever l), connected with the swiveled shank N of the easter-wheel O, and pivoted to a jointed arm, Q, that projects from the frame A, to adjust the latter, substantially as herein shown and described.
8. The combination, with the frame A and axle B, of the jointed rod H, adj ustablerod I, and jointed rod J, substantially as specified.
