In the escapement mechanism of a typewriter, the combination of the typewriter frame; a carriage with escapement means therefor; 21 dog block; a lever on the 'dog block with a pair of dogs one-of which speciis suitably supported thereon; and anadustable slide underneath the lever, having inclined f ces for moving the lever and notches fo engaging the lever and locking the slide in place, co-acting forthe purpose specified.

In the escapement mechanism of atypewriter, the combination of the typewriter frame; carriage with escapement means therefor a dog block; a lever on the dog block. with a pair of dogs-one of which is suitably supported thereon; and an adjustable slide underneath the lever, having inclined faces for moving the lever, coacting for the purpose specified.
