Description

the 'case of lilies of large LINE slimme e fi OFFICE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEINRIGB Duel-mnu, of 26. Hollnlannstrasse, Berlin, German Empire, manager, having invented certain new and useful Improvements in or Relating to Line Settin and Casting Machines, do hei-eb;Y declare t at the following is an exact sijiticiii-rze tion of the same.
ln line settingr and casting .machines off a known kind, the casting mold in which 'the line is cast, is secured in a so-ealletl casting Wheel which rotates'at a given'inoinent in order to bring the casting mold from the casting point to the-ejection point the line, and vice-versa. It is a -well known :"ac that the tasting mold more articulariy in ody or great length, quickly gets hot and then the working` is disturbed owing `to the mold warping.' While in some constructions of line setting and casting machines it. has been found pos-- sible to obviate the. above disadvantage and to provide water-cooling, the provision oi such water-cooling in line-settinzfl;I and cast- `ing machines according to this system oti'ers `extraordinary difficulties as the casting wheel is secured to a coni iaratively short rotating belt or pin'and on hoth sides oi the said pin, at very small intervals7 arranged other important construetional parts of the setting;I machine, which cannot be 'ne moved.- Cooling devices prorided tor this Systenrbf machine, necessitate either a runstructional modification ot' single parts olil the machine or the water is not supplied' vand discharged in a closed pipe, so that in case of the outlet becomingr choked, the water runs into the'inachine and dahingesit. This invention solves the problem in onesk tion by a special arrzmgenient. of the holt or pin which constitutes the supply and discharge conduit'. t'or the water.
ln the accompanyingV drawings: Figure yi is a. section through the casting wheel and the rotating holt or iin; Fig. f2 a section through the bolt itseli; Fig. 3 a View oi" the right-hand portion of Fig. 1, on an enhnl scale, turned'to an extent of 90; and lkej. -4 an elevation of Fig'. 1 seen from the right. `The casting wheel a, is secured in weil known manner to the. pin' or bolt. I, tiie. bolt or pin is pivotally mounted in .-s. sieevc o secured to the bearing c, and A from shifting in the said shines direction by a collar. Agaiiuet 'the right'- liand front end of the bolt b rests a part f.'

' well as the part e, are provided at' the ont ends engaging togetln-xr, with. annular f ases o', say, seinrcircular cross-section Lcb together form an annular conduit ft. into the said conduit lead the perforations 'J v and passing through the part c, and the water supply pipe l is connected to the peiforation or conduit 1. The annular conduity is moreover connected to a perforation m passing,P through the pin Zi, connected at the other side of the casting wheel to the Water pipe u. ln thedrawiug the said pipe fn, is shown as going around once the casting wheel but it can fgo several times around it and also he carried along' thc casting Wheel ill a coii shape or in any other desired manner. it 'opens into a central perforation o orf the pin E; which is continued by and also central perforation y) ot' the part e. The latter is again adjoined b r another transverse per- Joration g through the part e, which again is continued by an outlet pipe r. The water enters`r therefore. through the pipe l passes through thc perforation le and 'z'. of the partc, (Fig. into the tween the pin and the part @,-fiows from here l;h'rou,' ;h the lateral perforation m of the bolt Z) to the cooling pipe 'if he; Through the central perforation o of the bolt and the perforation 7) and y ol the part e to the outiet pipe 7'. It goes without saying that the water can be caused to flowI also in the reverse manner. Owing to the peculiar di- 'rision ot' the bolt or pin into a. stationary and a rotatable part, and the arrangement: of a central and of an annular perforation it is therefore possible. without any constructive modification ot the machine itself, more particularly withoutl introducing new construction parts in Atronhor behind the pin,- to int'rt'iduee u'aterseooling,in the niaeliiues ol' the, present kind, which increases the reliability otiu'orkiug.
Having thus lull); deseritwl the nature ot' my invention, what/l desirey to secure' hy iieters Patent ol' the luiled States isz ln a lino setting and casting` nun-bine in wheel a rotates with the pin 7i. lhe pin u annular conduit /L Intersil perforation o ens, n fixed sleeve for f. 1nbinution a rotating-pin, n casting wheel r the 1id againsl; each other, substantially us 10 adapted to support a mold und secured to described.
