To all whom it may concern:

Be itv known that I, LULU S. LEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los An- 'construct the garment in such a way as to enable access to be readily had to substantially any point of the body without disturbing the patient. This. arrangement gives the garment great utility when worn by women at maternity or when worn by persons who may requlre an application or-operation to be performed on the limbs or breast or at anyother point on the body.

-A further object of the invention is to construct the garment so that it can be put on or removed from the body substantially without necessitating the movement of the limbs and substantially without changing the position of the patient in bed.

In the annexed drawing, which fully illustrates my invention, Figure 1 is a perspective showing the preferred form of the garment. Fig. 2 is a front elevation showing a modified form of the garment.

Referring more particularly to the parts, the garment is in the form of a loose blouse which is divided at the waist line so as to form a body 1 and a body extension 2. The body 'extension 2 surrounds the limbs and envelops the same and consists of an apron or sheet, the edges of which are attached together by buttons 3, as indicated. The body 1 is attached to the bod extension 2 by buttons 4, extending completely around the garment at or about the waist hne. The

6 and 7 which are attached by but tons 8 so as to close the sleeves, said buttons 8 being disposed on the outer side of the sleeve; and the sleeve is divided throughout its entire length. The shoulders 9 of the body 1 are also divided'like the sleeves and at this point a shoulder flap 10 is provided on either side of the garment, which is closed by a button 11 as indicated. At the neck the blouse may be cut into a square yoke 12,\ as shown, and the body presents an edge 13 which extends down from the left shoulder to thewaist line. The opposite side of the garment extends across the front of the body and presents an edge 14:, which is secured to the edge 1 3 by means of buttons 15 passing through button holes, as will be readily understood. On the opposite side the front of the body is provided with a slash or slit 16, which extends in a substantially vertical direction, and this slit is disposed over the right breast.

In Fig. 2 I show a modified form of the garment, in which the body 17 is formed with sleeves and shoulders, the edges of which are connected by buttons 18 as indicated. The lower portion of the garment or body extension 19 may be in the form of pajamas, the legs 20 of which are divided on their outer sides and are provided with buttons 21, which attach the edges together as will be readily understood.

If a garment constructed as shown in Fig. 1 is worn by a nursing woman she can nurse the infant on the right breast at the slit 16 without exposing the breast; or by unbuttoning one or more of the buttons 15 she may nurse the infant at her left breast. By

loosening all the buttons 15 the arment may be thrown back so as to expose t e arms and the entire breast if this is desired as in some operations.

In removing the garment from a person lying in bed the sleeve buttons 8 should be loosened and the

3 and 15. When this has been done the garment can be drawn out from under the body like a sheet. A clean garment can be replaced with equal facility and in no case does the removal or replacing of the garment necessitate the lifting or considerable displacement of the body, arms or limbs. This is most advantageous as a patient who is very ill or convalescent from an operation frequently must endure great sufiering simply from such slight bodily movements as those suggested.

When worn by a woman at maternity the garment has great utilit for if the body extension 2 becomes soile during the obstetrical operations it can be readily removed without disturbing the upper part of the garment.

In bothforms of the garment, it will be evident the garment can be loosened to expose practically any. portion of the body without removlng the garment, or the garment can be removed and replaced without necessitating any considerable bodily movement.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
