To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES BURTON VVIN- zun, a subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at \Vest Gardens, Tooting, in the county of London, England have invented Improvements in Spinning Tops, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide means for causing spinning tops to have a jumping or dancing motion while spinning. I obtain this object by the addition of a spring, in the construction of tops, and illustrate in the accompanying drawings the methods of carrying my invention into eifect.
Referring in the first place to the drawing A is a top with the spinning point removed and in place thereof a spiral spring B is attached, preferably of taper form, as shown in the drawings, the end coil B being flat to form a flat spinning surface, the top will spin on this surface and have a jumping or dancing combined with an erratic motion while doing so.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
A. spinning top having a peg consisting of a spiral spring the end of which is flat for the purpose of giving a combined jumping and erratic motion to said top while spinning.
