This invention relates to im rovcments in ties for rails, and the object o the invention is to provide a metallic tie of a comparatively cheap and thoroughly efl'ective construction, com risin substantially a pair of cram-sectional y U-s taped members raving their upper faces slit and the metal of the said slits being bent npwardl so as to provide integrally formed base i ange' cnga ing members, the tics hariu their meeting aces Berovided with cllicient ocking members and ing further provided with removable eecaring elements whereby the said members are sustained in proper position with each other.

With the above, and other objects in view, which will appear as the description irogmales, the invention resides in the novc construction and combination of parts heroinafter fully described and claimed.
