Be it known that I, Trono Van ALLER, a citizen of the United' States, residing at Schenectady, in the county of Schenectady effect a high eihciency, whi e the 'construction 'and arrangement of the arts are so. simplified and improved that t Ve iron can be con- :veniently operated and may produced atalow cost.. A In the construction oflat irons, 1t has been found desirable to have the heat Stor-- age as near as possible tothe work to b done; in other words, between the 'heat unit and the work. I have also found thatl by far the largest part 'ofthe work of the iron is done around the edge of the'iron. It is desirable therefore, that the heat be applied around trated at the edge, so that the heat-.will flow quickly to the work; vIn carrying -out my invention therefore I srrange' .the body of the iron in such a' way that .the heat is a -plied only to a narrow 'strip around t 1e outen ed e of the iron, so that an ecien't distribution of the heat will be obtained. I also have the mass'ofmetal under4 the unit insteadof on`-top of it and` the inner invention embodied in concrete tbrm for purposes of illustration.
