The' invention herein to be described relates to looms, Yand more particularly to looms of the filling replenisliing type, wherein a fresh supply of filling is ai'itomatieally provided when that in use fails from any cause to be laid in the shed.`
As well known by those skilled in the art the filling may fail to be laid in the shed for various reasons, as, for instance, when the filling carrier or shuttle becomes exhausted, or when the filling breaks. Under such conditions -it is desirable that a fresh charge of4 filling be automatically supplied to t-h'e weaving instrumentalities.
The aims and purposes of the present invention are to provide means which will he simplein construction 'and efficient in operation, whereby, upon failure of filling'froni 'any cause, a fresh supply of filling may be delivered to the weaving elements. all as willbest be made clear from the following description and accompanying drawings of oneforin. or character of such means, it heing understood. that the invention is not restricted to the particular construction shown anddeserihed. but in its true scope is definitcly set forth hy the clai'ms.

37. In a filling replenishing loom, the combination of filling sup lying means having head and tip throats or the passage of filling carriers, a transferrer to move filling carriers through said throats, the front Walls of each of said throats being movable, and
means for causing said front walls to close and lock the throats to the-passage of filling carriers when the transferrer is not to transl fer a carrier to the shuttle andpermit said front Walls to move and open the throats to the passage of a filling carrier when a transfer 1s to be made.
38. In a' filling replenishing loom, the combina-tion of fillingl carrier supplying means, a transferrer, means to cause the transferrer to push a filling carrier from the supplying means to the shuttle, and a filling carrier positioner controlled by- `the transferrer to move a filling carrier into transferring position. Y.
39. In a filling replenishing loom, the combination of the lay, a hopper for containing lling carriers, a transferrer for transferring a filling carrier from the hopper to the shuttle, a filling carrier posi- 'tioner comprising an arm having a yielding end portion, means for causing sald yielding end portion to normally hold a filling carrier in transferringposition, and means operating as .the transferrer transfers a carrier l to move the yielding end portionof the positioner back of the next filling carrier in the hopper and to then move said Vcarrier to transferring Vposition as the transferrer returns to initial position.'
40. Ina filling replenishing loom, thev combination of a lay, a hop er for contain,- ing filling carriers, a trans errer for transferring a filling carrierv from the hopper to the shuttle, 'a filling carrier positioner, a spring acting to hold said positioner against a carrier in transferring position, and operating means for the positioner controlled by movement of the transferrer.
