SPOUT-HANGER.
Application tiled September 14. 1909.
To all UF/HIIII, it may concern:
to it known that l, l nmn W. 'lnonis, a
citizen ol' the lnitvd Hlnlt's oi Amcriru. I't" siding at \YilliainsporL in the county oi liy comingand Htahol' lonnsylvanxa, have H| vented ['(l'lllil new and nsrl'nl lniprorcments in Spouldlangcrs. ol' which the l'ol lowing is a spcrilii-ation. rnl'ercncc being had therein to the arroni ninying drawing.
This invention relates to *avestrongh hangers. and the principal ohjwt. ol' the same is to provide means uhcrchy the hang ers may be adjusted 'Ior roots of \';\l'ioii 3 pitch and also means whereby the trough support. may be vertically adjusted.
1n carrying out the objects of the in\rn tion generally stated above it is contemplated en'iploying a main bar or body to which the root engaging member has a pivotal connection so that the same may be adjusted in accordance with the pitch of a roof, means being provided whereby said member may be locked in adjusted position, and a trough support having a detachable vertically adjustable engagement with said body.
It will be understood, of course, that the essential features of the invention involved are necessarily snswptible of changes of details and structural arrangements, one preferred and practical embodiment of which is shown in the accompanying drawing wherein- Figure 1 is a side view of the improved eavestrough hanger. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the body of the hanger. Fig. 3 is a similar view of the root engaging member. Fig. 4 is another similar view showing, in detail, the trough support. Fig. 5 is a horizontal sectional view taken on the line 55 Fig. 2.
Referring to said drawings by numerals, (1) designates the flat elongated body of the improved eaves trough hanger, one side of which is provided with longitudinal edge flan es (2) which provide a guide way exten ing the major ortion of the length of said body. The ody is also provided with a plurality of regularly spaced apart transverse slots (3). The upper end of said body (1) is provided with an outwardly and upwardly curved pivot hook (4E), and below said hook (4), the body (1) is provided with a laterally projecting lip (5) having an opening (6) through it.
The trough support is composed of an Specification of Letters Patent.

outwardly curved arm (Y) shaped to roul'orm lo the rontonr ol' an ravestrough, the inner end (8] ol' said arm being provided \\'ilh a hook (SI) for engagement with one edge ol [hr trough, said inner end (H) living widenrd and provided with a vertically ar ranged guiding lug (to) il'rom which a. lip (ll) projects. said lip having an opening (l2) formed through it. 'lhc guiding lug tltl) is adapted to be titled within the guideway ol the member (1) and the lip (ll) passes through one end ol' the slots (23) and drtarhahly retained therein by means 01' a pin (Iii) which is passed through the opening (12) of said lip (11).
A roof engaging member (11) has a Hattened angular head (15), aid head having a pivot opening (10) at its inner portion, and having its outer edge enlarged and rounded on an arc of a circle and provided with a guide slot- (17) which is adjacent to and parallel with the said outer edge. Grooves (18) radiate from the outer edge of said head (15), the grooves being broken by said guide slot (17). The body of the member (141) has openings (19) by means of which it may be fastened to a roof.
In assembling the parts of the invention, the member (l-lt) has its body fastened to a roof with its head (15) projecting outward. The pivot hook (1) of the body (1) is passed through the opening (16) of the head (15) and the lip (5) is passed through the guide slot (17) and fastened therein by means of a pin (20), which is passed through the opening (6) of said lip (5) and rests within one of the grooves (18). The lug (8) of the trough support is then placed within the guideway of the body (1) with its lip (11) projected through one of the slots (3) and fastened therein by means of the pin The pins (13) and (20) are preferably wedge shaped so that they may be tightened within these lips, yet readily withdrawn when adjustments are to be made, or when the improved hanger is to be disassembled.
It will be seen from the foregoing that the roof member (14) is a stationary memher, and that the body (1) may be adjusted angularly thereon by means of the pivotal connection and be locked in the desired adjusted osition by means of the lip (13), guide s ot (17), pin (20) and grooves 18 Also that the trough support may be adjosh-d longitudinally of tho body (1) by moans ol the Slot '3 and lip (5) and lUt'lHll in tho dosirvd position by tho pin (13). Ah will be obvious, tho gaidcway of tho body ('1) and tho lag (H) ol the trough support voi'ipcralo to provent lateral play of tho trough. Hupporl relative to the body \Vhat I claim as my invention is:
An oaH-slrongh hangar ooinpriaing a roof engaging inoinbor provided with an angular hoalh said hoad being provided with a pivot opvning, a guido slot, and radiating grooves, a body having a pivot hook for ('ngag'oinont with said pivot opening and a lip for on- 14m in: y be adjastvd angularly of said roof-engaging naanlwr, a pin for Said lip adapted to ho RllQPllVUl Y seated in any of said grooves lo look lho body in an adjusted posilion. and a trough support ar ljnsl'ably 0onnm-lvd with said body.
In lvaliinony whereof I hereunto aflix my signalax'iin prosunvu of two witnossvs.
