My invention relates to adjustable rcairers set forth whereby their soliditj,Y may be increased and hen-gage conveniently and ae- My invention will be described in connec-Y tion with thedrawlngs which accompany' and form a partei kthis specification., m
Figure 1 is a, side view of my improved achustablc reamer partly 1n section, rig. '2 1s an 0nd view of the reamer shown in lug. 1, Flg. 31s a transverse section on the line on the line i-4 of Fig. land Fig. 5 is a.; longitudinalection of the supporting collar shown near the4 forward end of Fig. 1'. l
In the dmvrings selected for illustrating herein described, l representsa stoc-kcylin drical in section and providedwitb a central horeQ, which'as shown, ma;Y terminate in e rylindrical chamber 4. ,A portion of said bore is threaded near the forward end thereo'f as shown. at 3. The stock lis provided with a nur 1r of longitudinal and radial slots hert n shown six in number. each :dot extending from the surface ol' the stock to the central bore. 'A cutting blade (i is located in each slot and thc under sido thereof is inclined with respect to the longitudinal axisl of the .stock and ooiiperatcs with the tapered pin J screwdln'eadcd to the stm-lc at :3. The blades and tapered pin are so de` .signed that when the underside nl' the blades rests npon the pin their cuttirg edges \vill be parallel ith the longitudinal axis of the stock. The rearward ends of the .slots aro inclined with rcs-peet to thel axis ot' tflw stock beveled to cooperate therewith. The. forward end of cach ldadc is hcrclcd as shown at S but dfn-s not contact wish thc forward beveled edge of its slot.
The forward end of tlu` stock is sland- ,against the beveled portion l5 on the under side ofY earn blade near the tornai-d end vthereof. The collar 13 is provided xvith'as 4* 60 man v, slots 12S there are blades and the forwardy portion (3 of each bladerests in one of said slots 18 and projects beyondthe forward portion of the stock; The. lock-nut 16 provided with slots 17 for a Wrench is threadedto the stock at. 19 and bears against` the supporting collar 13. The tapered pin ma5v be. provided with a cylindrical barrel' l() at the rear end theteof which enters the dered at l2 toreceive the supporting'cliar t provided with a beveled edge ift which takes chamber 4 and su ports said pin against movement in anv irecton other 'than that parallel to the axis of the stock. i
When it is desired to alter the gage of thev reamer, the lock-nut, 16 is loosened anu the pin 9 turned t0 the right or left as by means of a screw-driver taking in the slot 11 so that the blades will be forced outwardly to increase the gage of the reamer or allowed to fall inwardlyto reduce said gage, Whereupon the lock-nut lt'- is tightened and the blades secured in psiton. I
It will be noted 'that one of the advan' ends of the blades permit the reaming of the bore to the bottom thereof.
It will be understood that. Within the sco )e of the claim many modifications may lue made in the particular, embodiment of my.
of each slotmaking an anglo with the ccntral axis of the stm-k. a cutting blade located in each slot, and havingr its under side inclined to the axis of ther stock, the rear end of each blade-being beveled to make the same angle with the axis of the stock as the coopta-ating.r end of its slot, a bcvelcdcollar located on the tiirxvard end of said'stock and having slotsfor receiving and supporting thc forward ond of each of said blades, said 'collar cooperating with a correspondingly beveled portion of each blade, means for adjnstahly scouring said collar to the forward portion of said stock, and :l tapered tages of my invention is that the projecting Y i a stock provided ipo G5 fL subscribed my name this 29th day of pc )in screw-threaded to thetock and located.
