GUARD FOR DISK HARRO'WS.
errata.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed January 26, 1910. Serial No. 540,692.
I '0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE R. ALLISON, a citizen of the United States of America, and resident of Indianola, Warren county, Iowa, have invented a new and useful Guard for Disk Harrows, of whichthe following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide a guard for disk harrows.
My invention consists in the construction,
combination and arrangement of elements hereinafter set forth, pointed out in my claims and illustrated by the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a plan of a disk harrow provided with my improved guard. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same.
In the construction of the device as shown the numerals 10, 11 designate axles, each carrying a plurality of disks 12. Bearings 13, i l-are mounted on the axles 10, 11 respectively, and the said axles are revoluble therein. Posts 15, 16 are fixed to and rise from the bearings 18, 14 respectively, and extend above the frame bars-1", 18 of the machine. Bearings 19, 20 are mounted on the axles 10, 11. and the said axles are.revoluble therein. Uprightbars 21, 22 are fixed to and rise from the bearings 19, 20 respectively, and said uprip'ht bars support and carry the frame bars 17, 1 8 of the machine. Guard bars 28, 24: are fixed to the posts 15, 16 by means of flange-s on the end portions of bars 23, 24, and said bars extend forward from the posts 15, 16, in converging planes, and are bolted to the tongue 25 of the machine. Guard bars 26, 27 are bolted to the posts 15, 16 adjacent to the tops of said posts, by means of twisted portions '28, 29 on said guard bars. The guard hers 26, 27 extend forward and down- Ward. from the tops of the posts 15, 16, in
converging planes, and are bolted to the tongue 25 through ieet 3G, 31 on the ends of said guard. bars. Brace bars 32, 33, of
common form, are fixed to the bearings 13, 14 and extend forward therefrom in c0nverging planes and are bolted to the tongue 2". A seat 84 is mounted on the frame bars 17, 18 between the guard bars 23 and 24k and also between the guard bars 26 and 27.
Patented (Pct. e, 1am.
ln use the operator takes his position on the seat 34- and operates the machine in the usual manner. The guard bars 23, 24 and 26, 27 extend beneath, to the sides, and in front of the driver and prevent his falling or being pulled to the ground in front of the disks 12 to his consequent and perhaps very serious injury.
I claim as my invention- 1. A guard for disk liar-rows, comprising bearings mounted on the axles of said herrow, posts fixed to and rising from said bearings, and guard bars fixed to said posts at one end and extending forward in converging planes and fixed at their other ends to the tongue of said harrow in front of the drivers seat.
2. A guard for disk harrows, comprising hearings loosely mounted on the axles. of
said harrow, posts fixed t0 and rising from said hearings on either side of the drivers seat of said harrow, guard bars fixed to said posts at different vertical points and. extending" forward and fixed at their other ends to the tongue of said barrow.
3., T he combination of a disk harrow and a guard comprising posts fixed to and rising from hearings on the axles of said harrow, and guard bars fixed at one end to said posts, extending forward therefrom on 0pposite sides of the seat of said harrow, and fixed at their other ends to the tongue of saidharrow in front of said seat.
Signed by me at lndianola, Iowa, this 26th day of July, 1909.
GEORGE E. ALLISON. Vlitnesses WM. BUXTON, J. H. lllnunouerr.
