,3 it known h Q s BH L- F M, citizen of the United States, residing at Berwyn, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and use- 1 plicated magaz nes or pamphlets, stapled,
cut and'folded, in se' larate'signatures, at one operation. To pro uce a machine of this I use one form'and one impression cylinder to each deck; at the same time I- use -a half width web-that is, a web half the w dth of the entire length of the cylindersand reverse the web and shift it to the-oppositeside 'of the cylinders, so that the first passage of the web prints one side thereof by contact with the half of the cylinder at one end, and the other side of the web is printed b contact with the half of the cylinder at t e other end, in its'second passage; thence slitting, turning and foldmg the web lon 'tudinally, thence cutting,

The press as shown consists of two printing mechanisms A and B, 1printing, res ectively, on rolls C, D and and F. As a modification the longitudinal folders 100, 101,'wh ich are shown in Fig. 3, if preferred could be used by passing the webs thereover as indicated at 102 and 103 and placing the stapling mechanism at right angles and leading the longitudinally folded webs thereto.
It is to be understood that an off-set web can be used if desired in the same manner as shown in Fig. 1, of U. S. patent to me 'No. 677737, July 2, 1901. Also as to the manner of turning the web over bars to reverse it for its second printing, see Fig. 7, of same patent.
\Vhat I claim as new is In a multiple Web printing machine, the combination of two sets of web-perfecting printing mechanisms arranged end to end, each set including a plurality of decks spaced from each other and each deck including cylinder printing couples, means to feed webs from rolls into opposite ends of the machine, for the respective decks, means to pass the webs twice through said couple, once at each end, including turning devices located in the spaces between the decks, a stapling, transverse cutting and folding mechanism between the adjacent ends of said sets, and means to associate and deliver the webs from the respective sets to said stapling, transverse-cutting and folding mechanism.
