DARR, citizens 0f the United States of America, resicling at (l) K0pple und .(2) MOKees Rocks, in the counties 0f (1) Beaver und (2) Allegheny, respectively, und State 01: Pennsylvania, have invented certain new und useful Improvements "in Hot-Water Banclages, of Whichthe following is a specification, referen0e being had the1ein t0 the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates t0 bandages, und the primary object 0f 0u1 invention is t0 provide a bandage that can be easily applied to various parts of the body f0r maintainingthe same in a warm und heated condit1on.

Another 0'bject of the invention is the rovision of simple and effective means f'or giving various parts of the body a treatment that is derivecl from ehe use 0f bot water, for instance such as received from the ordinary hot water bag.

It is a well-knwn factthut. it is an extremely difficult matter to retain a h0t water bagugainst vurious parts of the body, without assuming an uncomfortable position l*urtherm0re, it 1spracti0ally impossible to arrange an ordinary bot water bag against that portion of the body to be treated' without the bag at sonne tirne 01 other becoming displaced (lue to a movement of the bocly.

Our invention aims t0 provide a bot water receptacle of such u form that it can be applied similar to a bandage und wruppecl und retained upon the injured part of the body to receive treatment, the very fact of lt being a bandage indicating thttt it can be retained upon the body urespective of any movement by the wearer.

In the accompanying drawings, the reference numeral 1 denotes a piece of flexible tubing that may be 0f any desirecl length und diameter. This tubing is preferably made of thin 1ubber similar to the rubber usecl in connection with an orclinary hot W21tel bag, but we reserve tl1e 1ight to use waterproof fab1ic or any other suit'able material.

Fixecl upon the ends of the tube 1 are funnel-shaped mouth pieces 2, constituting c0rivenient means for filling the tube with hot water und 1'01' closing the encls of the tube after it has been fillecl. As one meuns 0f fixing the mouth pieces upon the ends of the tube, the inner walls of the mouth pi.eces a1e recessed, as at 3, und the tube 1 enlarged, as at 4, to fit in the recess 3. The enlargement 4 constitutes a collar adapted to fit in the annulzu recess 01 groove 3, but we desire it to be understood that the mouth pieces can be clamped 01 otherwise fixed upon the ends of the tube. The mouth pieces may be made of metal 01 0f hard rubber. The inner Walls of the mouth pieces adjacent t0 the outer ends thereof are threaded, as at 5, to receive screw-plugs 0 provided with wings 01 buttons 7 to facihtate the screwing of the plugs into the mouth pieces. The plugs can be made of metal or rubber und when mounted in the mouth pieces are adapted t0 provicle a water-tight conneetion.

Connected to the tube 1 adjacent to the mouth pieces 2 are eyelets 8, und We l1ave 100 illustrated in the dmwings two ways of securing eyelets to the tube. In Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive the eyelets 8 are carried by metallic bands 9 fitted upon the tube l, While in Figs. 4 und 5, the eyelets 8 are carried by small plates 10 held in engagement with the tube 1 by straps 11 encircling the tube and plate. I-Iaving nw described our invention, what we elaim, is:

l. A fluid containing bandage comprising; an elongated flexible hollow cylinclrical member open at each end and constituting a reserVoir, a mouth piece seeured to and projecting from e ach end of said member, means for closing each 0f said mouth pieces, an attaching band mounted upon said flexible member anal abutting against the inner encl of each of saicl mouth pieces, an eyelet secured to and projecting laterallyfrom each 0f said bands, anal a flexible e'oupling element engagirlg with said eyelets for connecting the ends of the member together Whereby the bandage is maintained inposition.

2. A fluid containing bandage comprising a relatively long flexible hollow cylindrical latter, a pair of bands mounted upon said member and abutting against tl1e inner'ends of said mouth pieces, eyelets carried by and projecting laterally from said bancls, and a flexible coupling element fixed a1: one end to one 0f said eyelets and adapted to have its other end att'ached tq the other of said eyelets for connecting the ends of said member together whereby the bandage is maintained in position.
