To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES K. Gaiam/Es,
a citizen of the United States, and a resident of iVaeo, in the county of McLennan and State of Texas, have made `certain new and useful Improvements in Ice-Cream Freezers, of which the following is a specilient-ion.
My `invention is an improvement in ice cream freezers, and consists in certain novel constructions, and combinations of parts, hereinafter described and claimed.
The object of the invention is to provide a power freezer, by means of which the cream or the like may be frozen by the use of ammonia, or by the use of ice or salt, or by the use of both.
Referring to the drawings forming a part hereof, Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal section of the improvement, Fig. 2 is a front view, Fig. 3 is an end view, Fig. 4; is a transverse vertical section of the freezer, on the line'4.-4, of Fig. 1, Fig. 5 is a front view of a portion of the stirring device,and Fig.- 6 is a section on the line 6 6 of. Fig. 5.
The embodiment of the invention shown in the drawings, cmnprises a frame, oomposed in the present instance of longitudinal hars 1, uprights 2, cross hars z, and braces 4, and'tlie casing '5 of the freezer proper is supported on one end of the frai'ne, while at the other end is a bracket (3, provided with -an upper sectional hea-ring 7, and a lower bearing 8. The casing 5 is square. in cross section asshown in Fig. 1, and a cylindrical receptacle Q'isgsupported lin the casing, the

Itwill be evident that the head may he forced tightly against the receptacle end by the threaded rods.
Near the bottom and at one side of its journaled in the hearing 8 before mentioned,

The extension 19 is also provided with an outlet pipe 26 adjacent to the head 12, which delivers to a Cask or receiver 27 semi-circular .iii cross sect-ion, and secured to the' end of the'sumiorting frame as shown. The casing is provided with an outlet pipe 28 at the opposite end from the head 12, and a tank 2t) is supported on the easing at the opposite end from the pipe 28.
A shaft is journaled in the receptac-leeiit the eenter thereof, and the- 'said shaft oonsists of asolid section 30, and a hollow section 31. The solid section is journaled in the bearing i', and in a packing nut 32 in thel adjacent head of the receptacle, and ispro- 'vided with a gear wheel Eli-5. meshing with the pinion 255, and with a lpnl-ley I-l-t, for receiving a. bolt l'roi-n any suitable source 4ofpower, 'whereby to rotate the shaft.

and is directly below a faucet 4 1leadi1ig from the tank 29 before mentioned, and having aI valve 45. A rod 42 extends down wardly from the pipe, and a weight 43 is connected withv the rod, for counterbalancing the pipe and retaining it in vertical position.

The hollow' shaft sect-ion 31 is provided at spaced intervals with sleeves 55, and each of the sleeves is provided with op -positely extending arms 5G, and the correspoiiding arms on each side of the shaft' seci 31. One of the reservoirs 4G or 4G is adapted to contain the usual ammonia pipes, while the other is adapted to contain the usual sale i and ice mixture, and a pump (S5 is preferably interposed in thc 'outer pipe 2G to supply the cooling medium to the casing.' The cooling medium enters the casing at the lower front end thereof, and the material tov bev frozen enters the receptacle at the adjacent end, so that the coldest part of the medium comes into Contact with the warirlestv portion of the material. l
The parts 1n the receptacle may beveasily removed for cleaning, by releasing or loosening the rods 15, and taking out-the head 12.
