Figure l aside view partially in section' of a gas burner constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 a top or plan View of half of `a burner Awith a portion of the detlector broken away.
' This invention relates to an improvement in gas burners and especially to devices of a small character adapted to be ap lied to an ordinary gas bracket, the object Ibeing a simple arrangement of parte whlch wil1produce a blue flame; and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter de scribed and particularly recited in 'the claim.
In carrying out my invention I employ 'a nipple 2 adapted to be applied to'an ordi-n nary gas `tvture. ln this nipple are a series ot' air inlet openings 3. Mounted upon the upper end et the nipple is a hollow head 4c forming a mixing chamber for air and gas. The head extends from the lower end upward so that the air and gas as it enters the head will have room to thoroughly mix. Extending outwardly the sides of this chamber are a series of l l Specification of Letterslateiit. ipplicaticn filed February 23, 1909.
and upwardly from Gas-BURNER.
Patented Sept. 13, 1910. serial No. 479,428.
burner arms 5 more or less in number each provided with a burner ti 6 of usual forni. Mounted on the top ot tie head is a vertically arranged post 7 and secured to this ost is a coneshaped detleetor 8. This may ige held in place, as shown, by a nut 9. Mounted on the post 7 is a collar l0' upon which rests a 'tan-wlleel l1.
In use the gas from the fixture and the air entering the openings 3 are thoroughly mixed in the head 4 and pass from the chamber therein through the several arms to the burners where the mixture may be ignited and the relative sup )1y of air and Igas is such as to produce a lue fiume and ence avoid smoking. 'lhe heat from the burners is radiated by the defiector and the hot air from the burners revolves the fan and thus maintains a current o'tl air to the inside of the deliector.
A gas burner comprising a tube having air openings, a hollow head or mixing .chamber mounted on the upper end of said tube, said head round in transverse section, closed at its upper end and larger in diameter at its upper end than at its lower end forming tapered sides, and a series of burner arms mounted in the sides of said head near the top and extending radially outward and then upwardly therefrom.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two Subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM H. HURLEY.
