This invention relates to lamp reflectors.
It has for its object` an improved means of securing the reflector in the lamp casing, and of securing and adjusting the light in the reflector. In the drawings z-Figure l, is an eleva.- tion showing the inside of the lamp door, and the back or non-reflecting side of the reflector bell connected thereto. Fig. 2, is a Vertical, longitudinal sect-ion through the axis ol' the lamp along the line a -a, Fig. l.
The reflector is metallic, and of a parabolic character, consisting of a hell shaped cup 1, of metal, polished on the inside and silvered and protected by a glass 2, which forms part of the door 3 'of a protecting case 4. 'ihe door is hinged to the case by hinge 5, and consists of an annular frame containing a circular glass. The annular frame is grooved on its rear or inside sur lacc, and the lass 2l engages against the edge t3 of the lgrame, and is held thereto by a ring 7 laid in the groove, with :in edge :it the rear of the lass, and soldered or otherwise secured to t' e frame. ',l`hc ring 'i' is provided at intervals with lips 8 that extend to the rear of the general surface of the ring and overlap it. These are preferably formed by cutting the ring with projecting parts that are bent inward toward the center of the' ring, and thus form overhanging klips t3. The rim ot the reflector l .is provided at intervals that correspond to the lips 8 with notches 9 which` allow the reflector to be Ye in the groove of the ring, and with the integral part of the rin in engagement with the bottom of the groove, and the notches straddling the lips, after which the entire reflector is shifted on y its axis until the integral part of the rim engages under the lips 8, and the reflector is securely held in place. iit the extreme rear of the reflector is secured a split tube l0, which serves as aguard t for the spring member ll. The split tube l0 has a projecting ear 12, and to this is g secured thc end ot the curved spring ll with t a curvature that' enables it to be inserted ini side the guard l0. The end 11i of the spring l" extends in parallel relation with the extent sion or ear 12, and a Ascrew l5 inserted l through the extension 14 and through both the spring and ear l2 holdsithem about the socketlt, which constitutes the terminal of the electric conductor 17 and the receptacle for the light 18. The filament of the light is arranged to be brought as nearly as possible to the focus of the reflector by the general construction and may be adjusted to aA very close approximation of the true focus by adjusting the socket through the spring, after which the spring is tightened down l and the socket is held in place. j that I claim is l.
