Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PRICE ARNOLD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fort Worth, in the county of Tarrant and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Heating-Drums, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to drums which are mounted above the heaters and which are provided with an inner drum which may be used as an oven for baking purposes; and the object is to provide means for cleaning the annular space between the inner drum and the outer drum. The space about the inner drum in such devices, particularly about the upper part of the inner drum near the pipe connection of the outer drum, becomes clogged with soot and ashes and the only way ever provided for cleaning out the soot and ashes is by taking the drums down and pounding and inverting them until they are cleaned out. I have provided a very simple device and way for cleaning out the soot and ashes without taking down the drums, and which can be done at any time with very little effort.
Other objects and advantages will be fully explained in the following description and the invention will be more particularly pointed out in the claims.
Reference is had to the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application and specification.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a heating drum. Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same, showing the improved door closed. Fig. 3 is an end elevation of the same with the improved door opened and showing the improvement of the head of the old drum. Fig. 4 is a vertical section of the drums, taken on the line m-02 of Fig. 1.
Similar characters of reference are used to indicate the same parts throughout the several views.
In the drawings, A indicates the exterior drum and G indicates the interior drum. The drum A is provided with a pipe connection E to be connected with a heater or stove. The drum G is attached to the head F and is spaced apart from the drum A. A platform or shelf H is usually placed in the drum G for cooking purposes. The drums are provided with the usual door K. As thus constructed the old drums would become clogged with soot and ashes D which would accumulate as indicated by D. The
only way provided in the old drums for taking out the soot and ashes was to take the drums down. I have provided an improved head F which has openings G into the annular space between the drums and I have provided a door B for closing over the head F which door will close the openings C. The openings C are concentric with the annular space between the drums and large enough for cleaning the space between the drums. The little rakes in common use can be inserted through the openings C and all the soot and ashes D can be raked down from the upper parts of the drums and out through the pipe connection E and this can be done without disturbing the drums and without taking the drums down. The door B is provided with a hinge M and a latch P. The perforations C are located in planes which are substantially midway between the two pipe connections so that the small rakes can reach both pipe connections. After the V soot and ashes have been raked down through the pipe connection E, they may be taken out of the stove with the other ashes.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,-
1. In a heating device composed of an outer drum and an inner drum spaced apart and having pipe connections for the outer drum; a head for said drums attached to said drums and closing one end of the inner drum and having perforations therein opening into the annular space between the drums and a door co-extensive with said head hinged to the outer drum for closing both perforations at once.
2. In a heating device composed of an outer drum and an inner drum spaced apart and a door closing both of said drums and pipe connections for the outer drum; a head attached to said drums and closing said inner drum at one end and partly closing said outer drum and having perforations into the annular space bet-ween said drums and concentric with said space and located in planes substantially midway between said pipe connections and a door hinged to said outer drum and closing bot-h perforations at once.
3. In a heating device composed of an outer drum and an inner drum spaced apart to form an annular heating medium and pipe connect-ions for the outer drum and a door closing both of said drums at one end;
