Description

TRUSS.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WALTHER LANGE, 0F ZWICKAU, GERMANY.
TRUSS.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTHER LANGE, M.D., subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Zwickau, i. 8a., Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trusses with Two Adjust-able Cushions, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a truss with two adjustable cushions.
The invention difl'ers from the trusses now known with two cushions united by a single joint-piece, which allows only of a limited adjustment of the cushions, in that respect that there are arranged on the spring of the truss two small cushions which can be adjusted and fixed perfectly independently of each other, so that the truss is firmly secured by the two cushions setting against the upper branch of the pubic bone,
In the drawing is illustrated in Figure l the truss and in Fig. 2 the truss together with the skeleton.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
In order to be able to adjust these cushions exactly according to the position and shape of the upper branch of the pubic bone as well as with regard to the hernia, each cushion, 1 and 2, can be adjusted on the truss 5 in slots 6, 7 of joint-pieces l0, l1
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 26, 1909.
Serial No. 486,059.
and be fixed by means of a screw 4, or the like. Moreover the cushions can be made to turn on their fastening- points 8 and 9. In consequence of the fact that each cushion is movable on a j oint-piece, which likewise can be accurately adjusted, one independently of the other, the truss can be so precisely adjusted through the upper branch of the pubic bone that it is held over the seat of the rupture, so that it is possible to retain the latter in a reliable manner.
lVhat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent 1s:---
The combination with a band, of two independent arms each provided with a longitudinal slot, a cushion pivotally mounted on the free end of each arm, and a screw passed through intersecting slots of said arms and securing the same to said band, permitting of independent adjustment of each arm about said screw as a pivot or in the direction of the length of the arm.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
