Be it known that I, "nannies J. Jonnson, a citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of Manhattan, city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined FeedVVater Heaters-and Grease and Oil Separators, of which the following is a spec fication.
This invention relates to apparatus for separating oil, grease, etc., from the waters of condensation received from the condenser operatin in conjunction with a steam engine, an to also act as a feed water heater for the boiler, and it is the object of the invention to provide an apparatus of this character which is compact and cheap in constructi i.
In carryihg out the invention I provide a series of nested tanks, communications bealso provided for drawing oh" the oil, grease,
etc., from the top of the Water. A heating coil extends around and is connected to the outer tank for the purpose of heating the Water before it is fed to the boiler. It is sometimes desirable to draw oi? the water from the tanks for the purpose of making repairs or cleaning the apparatus and means for this purpose are provlded in the bottom For the purpose of relieving the tanks of any undue pressure, which may be caused by steam conveyed by the waters of condensation or otherwise, I provide a vapor outlet at the top of the innermost tank. The invention consists of a series of nested tanks 1, 2, 3 and 1} having abuse 5 vided with standards 6, The tops ofthe tanks 1 and 2 are provided with a cover or head 7 and the tanks 3 and i with head or cover in the form of segmental plates 8.

The apparatus is connected to the can denser of a steam engine, or other source of supply of Water from which it is desired separate oil, grease and the like by 18 extending up through the bottom 0 innermost tank 1 to a point near of the tank, as at 19. Pipes 20, 21, and extend up through the bottom of each tank 1, 2 and 3, respectively, to a point just below the normal level of the water in each of said tanks, and are provided at their lower ends with valves or pet cocks 23 to draw off any grease, oii or the like which accumulates on described hereinafter.
