Figure 3 is a side elevation ot' the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to a new manner of constructing tire-engines with a. view of facilitating their operation where man or steam-power cannot be readily obtained.
The invention consists in the application of an endless apron or other power to a. tire-engine, so that horses on the engine or near itr` may operate its pump-work for extinguishing tire. v
In suburban and country places, where engines could not be kept, and where the men may-be employed on the fields, such an engine will be of great service, as one man, with one or two horses, con keep it in successful operation.
In the dniwing-` A represents the truck or body of the engine.
B is the pump 0n the same.
c is the endless apron, for the horse to travel on, for operating the pump, by menus of a crank-shaft, C, and piston-rod D.
The carriage may have vertical side plates, E, and
a folding back plate. F, which latter. when let down.
as in fig. 3, will serve as an inclined plane,.for the horses to reach the apron.
The `engine is drawn to the place of confia-gration in the ordinary manner-,mld is then connected wit-b `vthe water, and can then be set in operation by the horsesl which conveyed it to the re.
Hoving thus described my invention, l
I clziim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent-'- 1. The combination of the endless apron, the crankshaft and piston, and the pump, all being arranged upon the truck A, as and for the purpose specified.
2. A carriage-fiume, provided with -the folding plate F, to turn down, and form a pathway for the horse to the endless apron, in the manner set forth.
