Be it known that I, ERIK Anensr Fons- Incne, a subject of the King of Sweden, and residing at Fleminggaten 8, Stockholm, Sweden, chief en ineer, have invented certain newand uselul Improvements in Coir trifugalOream=Sepaiators; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description Qftli' invention, such as will enable others skilled in tlie art to which it a ertaias to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon; which form a part of this specifica tion.
My invention relates to an iinprovelnent in the covers surrounding the rotating bowl of centrifugal cream separators i'orcollcct' ing and dischar ing the separated liquids.
Iiri'nost centrifugal cream separators the rotating bowl is surrounded by a still stand ing vessel on the top of which are superposed two c vers provided with central openingsfor the bowl neck from which the separated fluids are thrown out in the chamhers formed by the said covers and from which the liquids are further discharged. By this arrangement of the receivers for the separated liquids the disadvantage occurs that the froth arising from the quick outrush of the liquids as well as the vapors occurring when the separation takes place at a relatively high temperature, uinlcr certain circumstances flow from the covers or receivers t0 the vessel surrrumding the rotating A art from the disadvantages resultseparator frame causes frequently serious quences depending thereupon that the bowl as well as t e driving mechanism 01. the separator become rusty. The reason Why the liquids and va ors are penetrating to the frame is that t e separator bowl during its rotation, on account of the friction imparts a rotative movementto the air which is arrested in the surrounding vessel and thus works like a ventilating fan. Thereby an air-current occurs, which according to the circumstances either will be directed from the covers to the vessel or from the same to the covers. Claims.
1. Ina centrifugal cream separator having a stillstanding vessel surrounding the rotating bowl andsuperposed covers for collecting thescparated fluids thrown out from the bowl the combination'of Wings in the passage between the bowl and the proximate cover, said wings directlng the air pressed in betweenthem to the central opening of the cover.
