STORE-CABINET.
Specification of Letters latent. Patented J 12, 1910.
Application filed March 24, 1910. Serial No. 551,819.
To all whom it may comm:
Be it known that I, JOHN W. BURROWS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cement, in 'the'county of Caddo. and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain"neW---and useful Improvements in Store-Cabinets, of
which .the following is a Specification.
This invention relates to store furniture and has particular reference to cabinets from which various commodities may be dispensed in an expeditious and satisfactory manner, all as will be hereinafter described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of a preferred. embodiment of the invention; Fig. 2 is a transverse section on line 22 of Fig. 1; Fig 3 is a transverse section on line 33 of Fig. 1, and Figs. 4 and 5 are plan views of the pair of rings whereby each compartment or receptacle may be supported upon the main frame or structure.
Throughout the following description and on the several figures of the drawings similar parts are referred to by like reference characters.
Referring specifically to the drawings, at 10 are shown a series of substantially vertical uprights on which are attached a plurality .of compartments 11 adapted to contain different commodities such as sugar, tea,
' rice, coffee, or different grades or varieties of the same. Each of said compartments 11 is adapted to be held in place by pairs of brackets 12 and 13. Each compartment furthermore may be provided with a sight glass 14 at its front whereby the condition of its contents may be seen and with a removable top or lid 15. Each of the compartments is provided with a dischar e neck 16 having therein a slide or cut-off 1 to which is connected an operating lever 18 pivoted at 19 to a brace or extension 20 extending outward from the neck. The cut-ofl is maintained normally in a closed position by' virtue of a spring-21 and it may be openedby a pull upon the lever 18 as by means of a. cord 22 and tassel connected to the other such as a ba end of said cord, all of the tassels being arranged conveniently for the operator.
At 23 is shown a suitable type of weighing scales supported upon the standards 10 and upon ,the platform of which a receptacle may be supported to receive the dontents rom any of the aforesaid compartments. A funnel 24 is supported upon the scale platform by means of the bracket 26 during the operation of filling. It is to be understood that the funnel and supporting device therefor will constitute 1n efiect a portionof the scale platform for welghing purposes. A spout or pair of spouts 2 are adapted to lead from the necks of all of the compartments to the funnel 24 so that any material delivered from any one compartment 'may be conveyed to and through the funnel. It is preferable to emloy the compartment directly above the unnel 24 for the pur ose of holding or delivering any materia which may be more diflicultto convey along the spout 27 than the materials to be contained in the other compartments. The spout 27 is referably made up in detachable sections 2% the apparatus or system may be extended outwardly to any desired distance simply by the addition of additional sections 27* and corresponding supporting uprights. Each upright is provided with a hub through which the "spout section extends.
The shop-keeper desiring to dispense any quantity of commodity will attach a bag to the funnel 24 and pull the tassel correspondin to the compartment from which the goo s are to be. delivered and when thescales register the so that supported in one of said hubs and is provided with an upwardly extending collar, a plurality of compartments provided with a funnel, said funnel adapted to be received in said collars, a spring actuated Valve located in said funnel, a discharge spo'ut 1ocated on said sectional spout, means whereby said spring actuated valves may be operated adjacent to said discharge spout, and clamping means secured on said discharge spout 10 adapted to 'secure a receiving receptacle thereto.
In testimon whereof I aflix my signature in presence 0 two witnesses.
JOHN W. BURROWS. Witnesses:
W. R. MITCHELL, T. D. 'HANSEN.
