IMPROVEMENT IN WEATHER-BOARDING.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 96,377, dated November 2, 1869.
To all rwhom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES C. ANDERSON,
i ot' Webster, Westmoreland county, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Weather-Boarding or lining for both the outside and inside of buildings.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction ot' ,Weather-boarding and lining in suchva manner that when applied to the outside of a building1 it Will show a column or panel the Whole length of the board. The same in practice is applied vertically, although it Will admit of a horizontal application.
To enable others skilled in the art to construct and manufacture the same, I proceed to describe my invention.
I take ordinary ooring or other boards 'of suflieient thickness to admit the formation upon them of raised projections that constitute the pillar or panel, which latter are usually one-third thicker than the other portions of .the board, as seen in Figs. l and 2 of the drawings, making a part of this specification. A tongue and groove are formed upon the edges of the board in the usual manner. When the boards are constructed in this manner they are placed vertically upon the outside of even When the Aboards shall shrink by exposure to heat or the Weather, the tongues and grooves will allow of' the same Without exposing the joints or connections of the boards.
