MAXIIVIILIAN BREDENBERG, OF NEUWERDER, NEAR RADOlIINO, GERMANY.
DEVICE FOR LACING BOOTS.
Application filed December 26, 1908.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAXIMILIAN BREDEN- BERG, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Neuwerder, near Radomno, in WVest Prussia, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Lacing Boots, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved device for lacing boots and especially those with long shafts, and its object is to provide means by which the laces of the shaft and of the instep of the boot can be tightened or untightened by a common buckle.
The accompanying drawing shows the improved device. 7
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a boot provided with the same, and Fig. 2 a similar view to the latter showing slight modifications of the laces, Fig. 3 is a sectional plan of Fig. 1, Fig. 4 is a diagrammatical plan of the shaft of the boot showing the fold behind the laces therein. Fig. 5 is a larger plan view of the device, and Fig. 6 shows the ends of the laces for the instep of the boot.
The instep laces a are united to the base plate 5 carrying the buckle f and have their free ends passed through eyes 0 of the instep of the boot. Said free ends carry small hooks c by which they are attached to eyes (Z of the instep of the boot. The buckle carries a lateral double spring hook 9. On the sole of the boot, a belt h is fixed and designed to receive said buckle f. By firmly tightening said belt and buckle connection, the laces a are also tightened. Straps i are Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June let, 1910.
Serial No. 469,218.
provided on the base plate Z) to receive the free end of the belt.
The shaft m of the boot is either on its whole length (Fig. 2) or on part of its length (Fig. 1) provided with a lateral lacing is which is fixed thereto by a knot or the like at its upper end and which terminates at its lower free end in an eye 75 designed to receive said double spring hook 9'. By these means, the shaft lacing /a can be tightened at the same time as the instep laces a by simply tightening the belt and buckle connection.
To make the boot watertight, the same may behind the laces a and is be provided with inner folds Z sewn thereto.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A device for lacing boots on the instep and on the shaft of the same, comprising in combination instep laces and a shaft lace, a base plate having the instep laces attached thereto, a buckle on said plate, a strap adapted to be fixed to the sole of the boot and connected with the buckle to adjust the same, a double spring hook laterally attached at one end to the buckle and at its opposite end adapted to be attached to the shaft lace, for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MAXIMILIAN BREDENBERG.
