Furthermore, lthe invention aims'to provide a spike of simple construction that can be easily placed in position and withdrawn. With this understanding of the aim of my invention, reference will now be had to the drawing forming a part 'ofthis specication, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective View of a spike constructed in accordance with my invention, and lFig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, partly broken away, illustrating the spike mounted in a tie to retain a rail thereon.
