provement in bandages and more particularly to an improvement in tubular bandages in which is an 'absorbent material. Bandages of this nature were heretofore constructed of a tubular casing formed by Weaving or knitting the same in a tubular form orby folding a strip of teXtile material lengthwise and permanently securing the edges together by stitching or other means and a filling of absorbent cotton. These' bandages are comparatively thick and after use are usually thrown in their entirety into the bowl of a sanitary closet,' thereb clogging or completely stopping up the Soil pipe and causing more or less damage and expense, and this clogging action of the bandage is further increased by the water in the closetswelling the absorbent material in the bandage casing. f

The bandage is used principally for absorbing pus, serum or other discharges. After being used the draw-string b is drawn out' of the edges of the casing a., the casing opened and the absorbentfilling material c shaken out of the casing in a disintegrated condition into the bowl of a closet or silnilar receptacle, the casing then thrown into the bowl and the whole discharged into the soil pipe without danger of stopping or clogging up the pipe. The bandage may also betreated With a niedicated liquid and used as a compress, if desired.
It is evident that the casing a could be knitted or woven so as to include the drawstring Z) at the time of knitting or weaving,
