To all whom'it ma/y concern p Be it known that I, NATHAN COPE, of New Waterford, in the county of Columbiana, and State of Ohio, have' invented a new and useful Improvement in Fruit- House; and I do hereby declare that the followingjs a full, clear, and 'exact 'description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying'drawings, and to ,the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists'in so constructing a housefor storing and preserving fruit and 'vege-A tables, that air will circulate around and through its bins or rooms, said house, with its bins' or rooms, being constructed and arranged as hereinafter described.

4will proceed to describe its construction and operation.

In the accompanying drawings, which form part of my specications- Figure 1, sheet 1, is a transverse section of my improvement in a house for the storing and preservation ,0f fruit and vegetables.

Figure 2, sheet 2, is a longitudinal and vertical section of the same, when cut-through at line yof fig. 1.

Figure 3, sheet 3, is 'a top view or plan of the same, when the roof is removed.

Figure 4, sheet 1, is a side view of one of the' bars or rails,used for forming the bins or rooms.

In the accompanying drawingsx represents the outer wall of the building.

The space between the inner and outer walls is filled with sawdust, tanbark, or other suitable matter.

The bins or rooms marked 3, are formed of slats or rails, marked e and f. The form of the slat, bar, or rail e, used for forming the side walls of the bin or rooms, is clearly shown in iig. 4.

By making the slats, bars, or rails e of the form represented, spaces between lthe slats, bars, or rails, will be formed, as indicated at o.

Theoor of the bins or rooms is formed by means of the slats, bars, or rails s, which are so arranged as to leave open spaces, 4, between them. y

The slats, bars, or rails e, are heldin the desired position by means of strips g, and recesses inthe posts 2. The form of groove for the reception of the ends of slats, bars, or rails e, will be readily suggested to the-mind of the skilled mechanic.

By constructing the bins or rooms 3 in the manner and by the means hereinbefore described, their height may be increased or Adiminished at pleasure, and by having the spaces between the slats, bars, or rails, of the walls and oor of the bins or rooms, airis allowed made as herein described, will keep fresh and sound much longer than when kept in the ordinary way. It is a fact well known to the horticulturist and fruitroom well ventilated with fresh air, will keep fresh and sound much longer than when-stored in close bare rels or cellars, which is the ordinary practice.

The object of my invention is to provide a convenient and suitable repository, adapted to the nature of fruit Aand vegetables, and supply a wantlong felt by the horticulturist and fruiterer.
