This invention relates to hens nests, and has for one of its objects to improve the construction and increase the etlicieiicy and utility of devices oi this character.

As above stated the apertures 30 are larger than the apertures 24, so that the nests 32 may be readily removed through the upper openings, when required for cleansing' or for the renewal of the bedding. Each of the upper apertures 30 is provided with a movable closure 36, preferably hinged at 37 to the plates 27 and also preferably formed of open Wire Work as shown, to provide the necessaryT ventilation. By this means the setting hen is protected not only from intr-using, but also protected from insects and vernrin, as the nests may be frequently cleansed and fumigated and kept in a healthy condition. ilie recesses of the plates 2?27 are arranged opposite the material between the recesses of t-he adjacent plates, so that tlie rolled portions of one plate engage the transverse dividine rods l9-20 between the recesses of the adjacent plate, as shown in Fig. 5.
