To all whom it may co'ncernf Be it known that l, WILLIAM J. BAKER,

residing at Newport, in the county of Campbell and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Screens, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to that class of window screens having removable means whereby the screen cloth is held in a frame by locking strips, such for instance as are disclosed in my Patent No. 787,181, April 18, 1905, and in my Patent No. 834,443, October 30, 1906 and my 9, 1908.

In screens of the foregoing type it sometimes occurs that the locking strips will work out of their grooves at the ends of the strips and allow the cloth to loosen, this occurs mainly in shipping the screens. l have therefore designed a simple and effective way of preventing the locking strips from working loose, by aiding the gripping action of the sides of the strp grooves, by providing positive projecting ears or members, to be movable over the locking strip or bar when in position and prevent it from working up out of the groove. This is accomplished by providing the corner bracing plate with bendable ears to project over the bars or pivoted ears that may be moved over the bars.

invention also embodies those novel details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, all of which will be first fully described in the specification and then specifically pointed outin the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Referring now to the accompanying draw- -1ngs in which like letters and numerals of reference indicate like parts in all of the figures, 1 represents the screen frame which is composed of top, bottom and side sections, each having a locking strip receiving groove 2 to receive the locking strip or bar 3 which may be tubular or solid, sectional or continuous, as desired. however, exposed to receive the screen cloth 5 and the locking strip 3 that holds the cloth in the frame. The corner pieces e have tongues 6 that project over the strip groove 2 and the locking strip 3 and thereby prevent the strip 3 working out of the groove, at'the corners. The tongues 6 may be bent up at right an les to the strip,,(see dotted lines in Fig. 3 to permit removal of the strip 3 when desired.

A further modification of my invention resides in providing a tongue 6 riveted at 7, to the corner piece, and thus pivoted to be turned to project. over the locking strip and groove when the strip'is in place.

in large screens additional pivoted tongues 6 may be pivoted to the frame at intervals, intermediate of the corners, if desired, to aid in holding the locking strip in place. lhe tongue 6- (Eig. t) is bendable on the dotted line, and not connected to the corner piece along the vertical edge.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings it is thought the complete construction, operation and advantages of my invention will be readily understood by those skilled in the art to which the invention appertains.

What 1 claim is:-

1. screen comprising a sheet metal frame having a continuous groove in one face to receive the edges of the screen cloth, locking strips held in said grooves to retain the screen cloth, corner brace plates secured to the corners of the frame and ears carried by the corner brace plates at the corners of saidbrace plates to project over the adjacent ends ofa pair of the locking strips and retain them in position.

2. A screen comprising a sheet metal frame having a continuous groove in one face to receive the edges of the screen cloth, locking strips held in said grooves to retain the screen cloth, corner brace plates secured to the corners of the frame and ears carried by the corner brace plates to project over the locking strips and retain them in position, said ears being integrally formed with said corner brace plates and bendable over and away from the locking strips to retain 3. A screen comprising a sheet metal frame having a continuous groove in one face to receive the edges of the screen cloth, locking strips held in said grooves to retain the screen cloth corner brace plates secured to the corners of the frame, ears carried by the corner brace plates to project over the locking strips and retain them in place, said ears being integrally formed With said corncr brace plates and bendable over and away from the locking strips to retain the strips at times and permit their removal at other times, and auxiliary means carried by the frame intermediate the ends and projectable upon the locking strip to assist in retaining the locking strip in place.
