Q i. which pi'votnlly connected one end olf a link 50, the opposite-end of which is pivotally connected to len enr extending 'from the bearing plate ll.
lli/hen our improved device is in operation, the 1Worm 1G on the endet the armature shaft i5 drives the worm-wneel l'i' carried by die shaft 18, whieh also carries the pinion 19. lhis pinion 19 drives the gear-wheel 20 und thus the disk 2Q carried by the upper end oi the shaft :2l is driven, und as a result the pitman 2i' is reeiproeated, thus imparting a rocking movement to the shaft 25. its the shaft reeks in its bearings, the crank arm 29 carried by the lower end there ot', beers upon the end of the link 30, and as the opposite end ot this link is pivotally connected to the bearing pluto l, which is j )ructieally a fined part of the base l, said link 30 acts is a movabler fulcrum with the result that 'the motor-housing' 9, together with the parts carried thereby, and the fan blades oscillate or swing about the post l() es a center. l
The movement of the motor housing` und Een blades can be regulated by adjusting the pin or screw in any one of the various apertures Q3 in the disk 22. The motorhousing 9 and the fan blades can be tilted or adjusted backward or forward as desired, by loosening the screw 8, thus permitting the plate 3 to shift slightly between the two l?? of the head 2, moving upon the trunnion screws 13, and after the proper adjustment is obtained, the sereY 8 is tightened.
il tan ot our improved construction is very simple, can be easily und quickl f edjusted, and the oscillation or lateral swing ot the motor und Vt'an blades is accomplislied by means ot positively operating meohanieul 'ice/s driven by the fan motor. iaving 'thus deseribed our inventiomwlmt we oluim is: f y,
l. lhe combination with s. fan base, ot a motor-housing pivotally mounted therein, u post mounted on seid motor-housing, constitutii'ig a rock shaft, arms carried by said post and links connected to said firms, one of said links being connected to the base and i crunk arm 29, lo the outer end ot' the other to a driving member actuated by the armature shaft of the motor.
`. 2. The combination with a tan base, of a motor housing pivotally mounted thereon, an upright rock shaft journeled on the` motor housing, crank arms on the ends of said rook shaft, a link connecting the crank arm on the lower end of the rook shaft to the base, a rotating member arranged for operationA on the motor housing, and operated by the motor within said housing, and a link connect ing the crank arm on the upper end of the rock shaft with said rotating member.
3. 'lhe Combination with .a fan base, of a motor housing plvotally mounted thereon, an
upright rock shaft journaled on the. motor housing, crank arms on the ends of said root shaft, s link connecting the crank arm on the lower end ot the rock shaftto the base, a rotating member arranged for operation on the motor housing, a. link connecting the cranln arm on the upper end ot' the rock shaft iwith said rotating member, und there being an adjustable connection Abetween said link and rotating member. v
Ll. The combination With a fan base, ot u niet( housing pivotally mounted thereon, an upright rock shaft. jburnaled on the motor housing, crank arms carried by said rock shaft, a link connecting the crank arinon the lower end ot' the rook shaft With the base, a disk arranged' tor rotationy on the 'motor housingJ and driven by the motor within said housing, which disk is provided with openings at varying distances from its axis of rotation, and a link pivotally connected to the crank arm'on the upper end ot' the rock shaft at one end, and a pin carried by the opposite end otsaid link, which pin is adapted to be 'positioned in one of the openings in the disk.
ln testimony whereof We hereunto affix our signatures in the )resence of two wit' nesses, this 19th day o April, 1909.
