Description
I omens.
WILLIAM. BRENTON, OF MINERAL POINT, WISCONSIN.
min'raL-romsmne COMPOUND.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, \VILLIAM Bnnn'ron, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mineral Point, in the county of Iowa and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Metal-Polishing Compound, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to polishing compounds, and has for its object to provide a compound of the character described, which is particularly adapted to polish articles of inlital, such as silver, nickel, brass and the 1 e. My invention consists of the following ingredients combined in substantially the proportions slated, to wit; whiting,-one half pint; soap-'stope, one-half pint; barytes, onequarter pint, and American Vermilion, onethird ounce. These ingredients are combined in a dry owdered' state, and the compound is app ied to the metal in the ordinary manner. Y
It is well known that both whiting and soap-stone have been heretofore used separately for the same purpose, and I make no claim therefor. Not any one ortwo of the ingredients will make a polishing compound capable of giving a permanent and ready polish. I have found by experience Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed June 10, 1909. Serial No. 501,427.
that the ingredients above described and compounded in the proportions specified, will produce a metal polishing compound which will be. capable of giving a speedy and permanent polish to metals. Barytcs is a well known chemical rea cut, and has a highly polishing uality. I merican vermilion is used, not or. y for its coloring property, but also for its polishing qualities.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to obtain by Letters Patent, is:-
1. A polishingtconipound incltiding whiting, soap-stone, and barytes- 2. A metal polishing compound including whiting, soap-stone, barytes, and American Vermilion.
3. A metal polishing compound consisting ofwhiting, one half pint; soap-stone, onehalf pint; barytes, one-Fourth pint; and American Vermilion, one-third ounce.
In testimony, that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
" WILLIAM nnnn'ronj \Vitnesses J. B. Rnrnoms, J. J. Foscrnn.
