UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
RUDOLF VEECK, OF ALGENROIDT, GERMANY.
DEVICE FOR SEATING RINGS 0F EASILY-BREAKABLE MATERIAL ON BOTTLE- STOPPERS.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUnoLr Vnncx, a. subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Algenrodt b; Idar, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Seating Rings of Easily-Breakable Material on Bottle-Stoppers, of which the following is a specification.
Heretofore it has been difficult to seat rings of easily breakable material e. g. of cork on their seats e. g. on bottle stoppers.
The object of my present invention consists chiefly of a device to seat rings of easily breakable material on bottle stoppers and it consists of a tube provided wit-h a head on its top and with a hollow cylindrical enlargement on its foot serving for the reception of cork rings. Inside the funnel I provide elastically mounted rods having fixed to their ends each an off-set piece which pieces all together form a. pressure ring.
In the accompanying drawing in which I have illustrated my invention like letters of reference refer to like parts of the different views.
In said drawings, Figure 1 shows a vertical section of the device in use. Fig. 2 shows a section according to lines II of Fig. 1.
The device consists of a tube a provided on its top with a head Z) and on its bottom with a hollow cylindrical enlargement 0 serving to receive the cork-ring (2. Located in the tube a are resilient rods 6 fixed to the l Specification of Letters Patent.

upper end of the tube. The lower ends of said rods 6 are provided with off-set pieces f supporting the inserted cork ring. The offset pieces form all together a circular pressure piece.
The operation of the device is as follows.
The corkring cl is inserted in the space 0 and supported or backed by the off-set pieces f on the rods 6. By pressing down the device the cork ring (Z expands and rides over the head of the button it upon the neck i of the stopper by means of said off-set pieces without being injured.
i/Vhat I claim as new and desire to secure by a United States Letters Patent is A device for seating rings of easily breakable material on bottle stoppers consisting of a hollow tube, a head fixed to the top of said tube, an enlarged cylindrical part fixed to the lower end of said tube adapted to receive the rings of easily breakable material, several resilient rods fixed with one end to the head of said tube and projecting with their free ends into said cylindrical enlargement of said tube, and ofi-set pieces fixed to the lower free ends of said rods supporting said cork rings, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name this 5th day of March 1908, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses RUDOLF VEECK.
Vitnesses:
J OHANN Sormnenn, WALTER HAUSING.
