'To alZw-hom 'itmay concern: Be it known thatwe, -HEEBERTVWEBSTER and VSAMUEL Reimann, 'citizens of the United States, residing at Methuen, in the county of Essexy and 'State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Looms, of which the following is a' specification. y v
The invention relates to ali-improvement in looms,f.and. is particularly directed to a stop mechanism arranged to be automat-` ically controlled by the shuttles, whereby when any two shuttlesare inline for. simultaneous operation the stop mechanism will be actuated and the loom stopped. i
.The mainvobject of the present inventionv is the provision of duplicate fingers arranged. for respective control by the shuttle box binder at each side of the lay, the alternate operation of'these fingers' 1n the .proper .feeding lofthe. shuttles being without effectl upon the stop mechanism, while their simultaneous operation by the presenceof alned shuttles will induce effective opera- .tion of the stop mechanism.

Referring particularly to the. drawings, our improved mechanism comprises rock shafts 1y and 2 arranged respectively adjacent o posing endsl of the .loom lay 3, each oft e shafts being supported in bearing brackets 4 depending fromthe forward face of the lay,-so that the shafts are supj `a Abalance lever 12.

Secured to the under side of the lay, I.xdjacent the rear edge thereof, is a hanger arm 8, having a T-head 9 designed to en gage and be secured to the lay. The hanger arm is disposed about midway between the proximate ends of the rock shafts l and 2 yand is formed at its lower end with a bearing head 10, designed to receive a pin Il on which is movably mounted what we term .The lever is thus movably secured to the Vhanger arm Sand projects in both directions beyond the hanger arm, the forward projection being preferably of greater length than the rearward projection, the relatively upward movement of the forward end of the balance lever being limited by .a right angled stop plate 13 adjustably secured to the Y hanger arm through the medium of a pin and slot connection and having its relatively horizontal portion disposed imx the path of movement of the balance lever. The forward end of vthe balance lever is normally tensioned in an upward direction through the medium of a coil spring lil, secured to the balance lever at one end and at the opposite end to a hook plate l5, secured to the lay bar in an lappropriate manner. The relatively rear end of the balance lever is provided with a pivot intle 16and for the purposes of economy in construction and use we prefer to provide the pintle pin as an independent elel ment, casting the same integral with a plate ll', which is designed tobe screwed or other.-` wise removably secured to a similar plate 18 on the end of the balance lever, whereby renewal of the pintle 16 is permitted without the necessity of renewing the entire lever. 4 Y
Pivotally mounted upon the pin 16 is a rocker lever 19', preferably a narrow' strip of metal centrally formed with an opening 20. to engage ,the pin 16 and terminally formed wlth forwardly projecting pins 2l. The arm 31 carries a vertically offset or '.trip projection 33, designed to directly underlie 4the :treeA end of the balance lever 12, and said balance leverv 12 at itsr free end is branched to provide arms`34, which'rotatlvely support aroller 35 designed, when the parts are in normal position, to bear directly upon .the tri projection 33.
