Be it known that I, EDWARD Mnrnns, a

citizen of the United States, residingv at Milwaukee, county of Milwaukee, and State of lVisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in COin-IVrapPers, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to coin wrappers.

The object of my invention is to provide simple and inexpensive means for rectifyfing mistakes in counting and packaging coins, and for permitting an inspection of the package, both for the purpose of counting the coins, and of detecting defective coins :3' or coins which are unauthorized under vthe ing a somewhat shorter package as it ap-"' pears when viewed .from the side opposite that of Fig. 1. Like parts are identified by the same reference letters Athroughout the several views. A sheet of paper A, suitable for Wrapping coins, is provided With gage lines B-B and C-C on its inner and outer surfaces respectively. The lines B-B are parallel and spaced apart to a distance equal to the length (or height), of the pile of coins which the package is adapted to receive. The lines C-C are similarly placed and spaced. These lines B-B and C-C extend longitudinally of the package and at an equal distance from its margin, a portion of the/` sheet A between any one of the lines and the 1- adjacent margin being folded over in the form of flaps E and F, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The end portion G of the sheet is gummed, so that when the sheet is'rolled cylindrically about the coins, this gummed portion may be lapped over the lother end portion of lthe sheet and caused'to adhere thereto.

The sheet is provided with a transverse transparent portion H, which may befoonvenientlyprovided by cutting out a portion l of the sheet to form a slot, and then coverrial I, gunnned on or otherwise secured to the inner face of the sheet A around such slot. It is not material, however, to my invent/ion, Whether the transparent portion is tegral portion of the sheet A, since'any convenient means for providing means for viewing the lcoins through the wall of a closed package may be employed.

y' The slotted or transparentV portion is of greater length than the pile of vcoins and eX- tends across the line B-B and C-C, Whereby a slight shifting of the pile of coins when folding the ackage, will not prevent a view of all the coms through the transparent portion. The exterior surface of the lWrapper is suitably marked atJ to indicate the character .of the coins, and the total Value of the package.

In use, a pile of coins K representing a value in coins of thedenomination desig- -nated at J, equal to the capacity of the package is placed upon the inner face of the package at any desired point, as illustrated in Fig. 4. The coins being of the correct denomination and correct in number, the ends of the pile will register with the lines B-B with sufiicient accuracy to show that ing the slot by a strip of transparent matethus formed or whether it constitutes an ineoL ' the correct number of coins is present. It will be observed that when the package is completed the lines C'-C will ordinarily register. with the ends of the pile of coins, thus again proving the correctness of the count, or enabling this fact to be ascertained by an inspection of the package from the exterior. If, however ythe coins should be Ishifted during the folding or packaging operation, so that the ends of the pile do not register with these lines C-C, the fact of such shifting may also befobserved by an inspection of thev pile through the transparent portion H, this portion being of sufficient length so that. no shifting movel such margin from being folded in to properly cover the end of the pile. lIt will therefore not be possible to package the coins withv suiicient inaccuracy to prevent each and all of them from being observed, in-

spected or counted.
