To ll whom it may concern:
Idle it known that I, CHAnLns Gauvin, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the borough of Manhattan and Siate of New York, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Cluster Lamp-Sockets, of w ich the following is a full clear, and exact description.
y y invention relates to wireless clusters in which there is a lamp holding structure adapted to receive a plurality of amps, and
has for its obJect the provision of improved means for sup orting and applying current to said lam oldingstructure, said means permitting e lamp olding structur to be readily removed from or applied to is suport whereby the latter may be laced in he building when it is bein wire and the lamp-holding structure app ied later without the necessity of connecting any wires thereto, and whereb a shade having a centrai o ening of or inary size ma be applied o or removed from a sha e holder above the cluster without the necessity of disconnecting any wires therefrom.
With these ends in view m invention consists in the features herena r set forth and claimed.

In the cluster shown the central conductor is in the form of a rigid ring 1 of circular cross-section, said ring being preferably of brass or other metal. This ring is drilled and tapped to receive the screws 8, of which there is one for each lamp socket and which are of metal and act as he center contacts and as means for securing the threaded in position. U n each of the screws and ,secnred by) t e head thereof is "'a wpslier 7, reifera 1y pf brass, a disk 6 of a, printA er insulating material, an insuigiing ,disk or .button 4, which may be of `shells exten porcelain or other suitable material, and a cup shaped threaded shell 5, the bottom of which is cut out to form a flexible tongue 8, and flanges 9. The flanges 9 are situated between the insulating disks 6 and 4 and the washer 7 is of greater diameter than the space between the said flan es. The parts being thus assembled upon tie screws 3, the latter is inserted within the bore 2 and screwed firmly into position thereby rigidi clamping to 'ether tie various parts which have been escribed. Any suitable means may be provided for electrically connecting the shel s 5, but in the cluster shown, the flexible tongues 8 are brought together at a central point and united by a metallic bushing 10 the ends of which are upset so as to bind the tongues tightly to ether. There is a cover 14, in the orm o a hemispherical shell, referably of brass, formed with openings hrouh which the several threaded V and insulatin bushings 18 of orcelain or other suitab e material are hreaded upon the exterior of the shells 5, and ,the ilanges formed on said bushings bear against the edges of the o enings in the cover and draw lie cover an threaded shells into a ri id structure.
The means or supporting and applying current to the lamp olding structure comrise a su porting base which consists of a anged p ate 19, adapted to be threaded upon the lower end of the conduit 12, through which the line wires 20 and 21 pass, and an insulating block or disk 22 of porcelain or other suitable material which is secured to said plate 19 in any suitable manner, as b screws 23 countersunk in said disl{.` The isk 22 is provided with a de pending portion 24, formed with a series Vof radial grooves 25, and secured within the said grooves by screws 26 are a plurality of spring tongues 27, of the form shown, said tongues being capable of yieldin laterally at their free ends so as to allow The ring 1 to pass the shoulders 28, formed in the said tongues, and occupy the bend formed in the ton ues immediately beyond said shoulders, as s own in Fi 2. By pulling downward on the lamp-ho ding structure, the ring 1 will bear against the shoulders 28 and cause the ton ues to bend inward suiciently to allow t` e ring to slip over the said shoul said lam -holding structure ders, whereby may be readily remove from its support.
The tongues 27 serve to sup ort the ring 1 and the parte carried there and one of the tongues vapplies current to said ring, being clamped upon a contact plate 29 by the screw 26. Said contact plate is provided with a binding screw for securing the end of the line wire 21. he other line wire 20 is secured to a contact plate 31, by a bindin screw 82, and said plate is secured tothe lock 22 by the screw 8B .which u lso secures a downwardly exten in s ring ton e 34 of the form shown. It should e noted .that the diameter of the disk 22 is substantially less than the diameter of the cover 14, so that a shade having an opening pf ordinary size may be passed over the disk 22 when the cover 14 and the parts carried thereby are removed, and secured to a shade holder applied to the pipe or conduit '12.
Having now described my invention, what I claim, is:
1. In a cluster socket, the combination. of a central rin -shaped conductor, insulatin means seeur thereto a plurality et radially extending threaded shells applied to hemispherical -annular plate said insulating mean a supportin base, and a luralit of yie din sprin ongues secu to sai base and a apted engage said ring to support the same.
