To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Josnrii A. Gnoiieni, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improiements in Decorated Fabric, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates `to improvements in fabrics decorated with piping andthe present case is a division of my application iiled on the 17th day of December, 1908, and serially numbered 467,947, to which cross reference is made.

lleretofore in decorating or oriianienting f fabric with what is commonly called piping,

it has been customary to make u` the piping by sewing the edges of a strip o piping material together on the `Wrong side and then turning the same right side out, at the same time placing therein a filler, Where one is desired. The pi ing thus madeis afterward sewn on a abric by a separate stitching, thereby attaching `a raised decoration to the fabric which is applied to form either straight lines or any desired ligure. In thus decorating a fabric with piping there is a double handling, once when the piping is made and again when it is sewn to the fabric. Furthermore it is impossible for the o erator to apply the piping to the fabric regular and even, With the seam of the piping straight and at the point where the piping contacts with the fabric. My object is to overcome these diilicultiesby sewing the piping material to the fabric by blind stitches which themselves. form the piping, thus producing a more regular, better appearing fab rie at a single operation. `ln making the same the piping may or may net have a filling therein, as desired and the piping may be formed on the fabric in any desired design or in straight lilies. By blind stitches as herein mentioned l mean stitches which pass through the article in such a Way as to leave `the top `ot' the piping free, so that theA stitchin will be blind, or concealed on` the right side of 4the finished article.
