To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HANS P. G. NORSTRAND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Albany, in the county of Albany and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Burner-Supports for Gas-Ranges; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

`My invention relates to gas ranges, particularly to supports for the top burners, and has for its object to provide a simply constructed and inexpensive support which can be readily and quickly removed from the burner box, without taking out any bolts or screws, to permit cleaning said burner box.

The invention consists of hollow or channel bars arranged horizontally across the burner box and supported upon hangers depending from the top edge of said box. The portions of the hangers engaged by the ends of the horizontal bars are formed to lit snugly into the ends of said bars whereby they are held firmly against rocking.

The invention also consists in the features of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter described and specified in the claims.

In the accompanying drawing, illustrating the preferred embodiment of my invention: Figure l is a top plan view of a gas range with the grates removed to better disclose the arrangement of my burner supports. Fig. 2 is a cross-section on the line :z2-x of Fig. l looking in the direction of the arrow. Fig. 3 is a detailed perspective view of one of the horizontal bars, and Fig. l is a detailed perspective view of one of the hangers.

Referring more particularly to the draw ing, l designates the burner box of a gas range of ordinary construction. The burners 2 are removable as usual. They are supported in proper position and against rocking by the horizontal cross bars 3, two of which are shown, one supporting the two front burners and the other the two rear ones.

Each bar 3 is preferably made of channel galvanized iron and is of such length that it fits snugly between the walls of the burner box. The hangers 4; which support the bars 3 are also preferably made of galvanized sheet metal. Each hanger is bent to form a vertical portion 5 which fits flat against the side of the burner box, an outward projection 6 which engages the top edge of said burner box, and an inward projection 7 which engages the end of one of the horizontal bars. Said inward projection has lateral downwardly bent lianges 8 which engage the sides of the channel bar and iit it snugly so that said bar can not rock.

Each burner has a downwardly extending tapered pin 9 cast thereon and two shorter lugs l0, one of said lugs being arranged on each side of said pin. Then the burners are placed in position in the burner box, the pins 9 are inserted into suitably positioned holes l1 punched in the tops of the bars 3. Ihe lugs 10 rest upon the tops of said bars and prevent the burners from rocking laterally. It will be observed that my support requires no screws or bolts which it would require some time and trouble to remove, but that as soon as the burners are removed, the channel bars may be lifted out at once leaving the hangers in place as the latter will not interfere with cleaning the burner box. If preferred, the hangers may also be removed in a moments time.

I claim:

l. The combination, with the burner box of a gas range, and burners arranged therein, of hangers, each comprising a vertical portion engaging the side of the burner box, an inward projection, and an outward projection extending over the top edge of said burner box, and a burner-supporting bar adapted to receive the inward projections on said hangers.

2. The combination, with the burner box of a gas range, and burners arranged therein, of hangers depending from the top edge of said burner box and having inward projections, and `a burnersupporting bar provided with downwardly projecting iianges forming a channel, the inward projections on said hangers being itted into said channel at the ends of said bar.l

3. The combination, with the burner box of a gas range, and burner arranged therein, of hangers depending from the top edge of said burner box, each hanger being made of sheet metal bent to form an inward projection having downwardly extending flanges, and a burner-supporting bar provided with downwardly projecting flanges forming a channel, the inward projections on said hangers being fitted into said channel at the ends of said bar.

The combination, with the burner boX of a gas range, and a burner arranged therein, of a horizontal bar removably mounted in said burner box and having an opening therein, said burner having a ta- 10 pered pin projecting from its bottom and fitting into the opening in said bar, and lugs at either side of said pin resting on said bar for the purpose Specified.
