RAZOR-HONE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, NICOLAS SALvA'ro, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Razor-Hones, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in razor hones, and has for its object to provide an exceedingly simple and effective device of this character, whereby any man may keep his razor in the proper condition for a comfortable and easy shave although he is an amateur or one unskilled in the art of securing a keen edge by the use of the ordinary honing stone having a flat surface.

Another object of my invention is to provide a razor hone which will be inexpensive to make yet strong and durable and easy to manipulate.

With these ends in View, this invention consists in the details of construction and combination of elements hereinafter set forth and then specifically designated by the claims.

In order that those skilled in the art to which this invention appertains may understand how to make and use the same I will describe its construction in detail, referring by letter to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved razor hone. Fig. 2, a vertical section thereof, and Fig. 3, an end view showing the sides pressed together, in which position they are placed when a razor is being honed.

In carrying out my invention as here embodied, A represents the body of the device formed of some suitable spring metal which is so bent as to form the sides B and base C. The ends of the sides B are bent at right angles to form the flanges D and the upper ends of these flanges have the extensions E formed therewith. The sides are provided with vertical slots F which are covered by the caps G. These caps might be formed by molding them with or pressing them from the sides B.

H is a sliding table extending a short distance beyond the ends of the body and provided with arms I which slide in the vertical slots F. Mounted upon the upper face of Specification of Letters Patent.

the sliding table is a guide J which is of sutlicient size to acconnnodate the back of the largest razor. To the under surface of the sliding table is attached the socket K adapted to receive the upper end of the screw I whieh is threaded intothe threaded opening M in the base 0, and on the lower end of said screw is mounted a circular thumb nut N so that the screw may be easily and readily turned for raising and lowering the sliding table II. Between each pair of extensions IG formed with the same side is mounted a stone 0 which is of sutlicient size to extend beyond the edge of the extensions and the inner faces of these stones are beveled so that as they are brought together they will coincide with the sides of the razor blade.

In practice the sliding table is adjusted by the screw until it is high enough to cause the blade of the razor to be sharpened to rest between the stones. The razor is then laid in the guide with its edge between the stones, the upper ends of the sides grasped between the thumb and fingers and pressed against the sides of the blade by bringing the thumb and fingers togethe' and the razor is drawn between the stones until the edge is rendered sulliciently keen.

Of course I do not wish to be limited to the exact details of construction here shown as these may be varied within the limits of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of my invent-ion.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, is-

1. In a razor hone, a body having a base and sides, stones mounted on the upper ends of the sides, a sliding table, and means for adjusting said table.

2. In a razor hone, a body bent to form a base having a threaded opening therein, and sides having vertical slots therein, a sliding table having arms formed therewith, said arms engaging with the vertical slots, and a screw passing through the threaded opening in the base, the upper end thereof being attached to the sliding table, as specified.

3. I11 a 'azor hone, a body composed of a base having a threaded opening therein, and sides having vertical slots, the ends of said sides being bent at right angles thereto to form flanges, extensions formed with the upper portion of said flanges, stones mounted between said extensions, a sliding table provided with arms, said arms adapted to engage the vertical slots, and means for raising or lowering said table.

l. In a razor hone, a body composed of a base having a threaded opening therein and sides having vertical slots, the ends of said sides being bent at right angles thereto to form flanges, extensions formed with the upper portion of said flanges, stones mounted between said extensions, a sliding table provided with arms, said arms adapted to engage the vertical slots, a guide mounted on the upper face of said table, and a screw passing through the threaded opening in the base for raising or lowering said sliding table.

5. In a razor hone, a body composed of a base having a threaded opening therein and sides having vertical slots, the ends of said sides being bent at right angles thereto to form flanges, extensions formed with the upper portion of said flanges, stones mounted between said extensions, a sliding table provided with arms, said arms adapted to engage the vertical. slots, a guide mounted on the upper face of said table, a socket attached to the under side of the sliding table, a screw passing through the threaded opening in the base, the upper end of said screw being journaled in the socket, a circular thumb nut mounted on the lower end of the screw, and caps covering the vertical slots.
