To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, KURT Herrn, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at N ew York, in the county of New York and State of liew York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ticket-Sellers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to ticket selling devices and is adapted to be set up as a partition before a ticket sellers window and receive the price for the ticket and deposit same before the seller, who in return causes the device to pass the ticket to the purchaser; as will be more fully explained in the following specification, set forth in the claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, where:

The device is intended to be placed in the window of a ticket sellers booth or compartment and fill the entire space. For this purpose a frame 5 is provided the exact size of the window, and it has the panes of glass (3 preferably of the form shown in Fig. l, and divided at its upper end by means of cross pieces 7 which carry the circular casing 8 for the door 9, the door being hinged at one Side and provided with a latch 10 at the other side to prevent its being opened from the exterior. This door has a slot l1 for the passage of letters and small articles, the same being covered by a rectangular door 12 hinged at its upper side, and the body of the door 9 has a number of perforatioiis 13 of funnel shape to produce a megaphone effeet both from the inside and outside of the partition, so that a conversation may be carried on through the perforations. The partition above described is mounted on a base let having a cross piece 15 on its upper side to receive the lower ends of the frame 5 which also tit into sockets in the base. Within the base is located a dish 1G, which is divided into two compartments each of which is adapted to lie on opposite sides of the partition and be normally retained in this position by the lugs 17, which engage a stop 18 carried by a vertical plunger 19. has a head 20 while its lower end is encircled by a spring 21 which holds it in its uppermost position. mains in its elevated position it is impossible to move the dish 16 and it is held against a rearward movement by the pawl 22 pivoted to the rear end of a lever 23 located directly beneath the stop 18 so that as the stop descends it presses upon the free end of the lever and carries it downward drawing forward the pawl 22 so as to strike the lug 17 and draw the dish forward, the stop having passed beyond the range of the lug so as to permit of its forward movement. The paWl 22 has a weight 24 at its rear end and the lever 23 is also provided with a Weight 25 back of its pivotal point. The dish has a central pivot 26 working in sockets in the cross bar 15 and the bar 27 near the lower part of the base. This pivot is delicately finished so as to permit of the easy movement of the dish when struck by the pawl 22.

In operation the money for the passengers tickets is placed in that half of the dish outside of the partition by the passenger and the seller on seeing that the proper amount is deposited there places the ticket in the other compartment of the dish and by striking the head 20 of the plunger he removes the stop 18 and throws forward the pawl 22 thereby pushing forward the dish As long as the plunger re-A which rotates until the lug 17 on the opposite side of the dish swings around and comes in Contact with the stop 18, which has returned to its original position. The purchaser may then remove the ticket while the seller takes the money from the inner side of the dish.

The modified form shown in Fig. 4 is provided with a mouth piece 30 of funnel shape and opening in opposite directions so that a conversation can be carried on by the seller and purchaser and it may be provided with more advantageous means than the perforations above described, although the perforations and mouth pieces may be used together.

It is obvious that other modifications may be adopted in the construction of the device without departing from the essential features above described.

What I claim as new and desire to obtain by Letters Patent, is:

l. In a ticket seller, the combination with a. partition, of a rotating dish pivoted beneath the partition and having a dividing wail, aV stop adapted to arrest the dish so that the dividing Wall and the partition are parallel, and a plunger adapted to remove the stop and rotate the dish.

2. In a ticket seller, the combination with a partition, on a counter, of a divided dish pivoted beneath the partition, stops on the dish, a plunger with an arm normally engaging one ot' the stops, a lever operated by the plunger to strike the stop and turn the dish when the arm is removed and a spring to return the plunger and arm to their normal position.

3. In a ticket seller, the combination with a partition and counter, of a divided dish pivoted beneath the partition, stops on the dish, a plunger With an arm to engage the stops, a lever rocked by the arm, a nger Connected With the lever and adapted to strike a stop and a spring for the plunger.
